🏫✨𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬: 𝐓𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐚 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐮𝐬 Academics are breaking free from the traditional university campus model, embracing a spatially distributed approach to work. With the rise of hybrid work, especially during and after the Covid-19 pandemic, new opportunities emerge to create innovative, inclusive, and socially sustainable university campuses that extend far beyond campus boundaries. Italian academics are evolving into multi-local knowledge workers, seamlessly blending on-campus, home, and other workspace environments. A survey of 1,199 tenured academics reveals that hybrid working not only boosts productivity, creativity, and collaboration but also increases the attractiveness and inclusivity of university campuses. A shift towards distributed campus models can support staff needs while connecting universities to the broader urban and extra-urban environment. 💡 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐃𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐝? 1️⃣ Universities could integrate co-working spaces, libraries, and innovation hubs both on and off-campus. 2️⃣ Academic management must adopt socially sustainable facility strategies that align with the hybrid needs of academic staff. 3️⃣ By extending campuses into urban areas, universities foster creative collaborations and contribute to the development of surrounding communities. 🌟 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭: This study reimagines the traditional campus as a network of interconnected spaces, adapting to the demands of a post-pandemic academic landscape while driving innovation and inclusivity. 🔗 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬: https://lnkd.in/d4YyxVQv 📢 Interested in this topic or related subjects?
