WORLD ROBOTICS 2024 REPORT released by IFR: Sales of Service Robots up 30% Worldwide ➡ Nearly 80% of the robots came from the ASIA-PACIFIC region with 162,284 units sold. ➡EUROPE followed with 33,918 units ➡ The AMERICAS in third place with 8,927 units sold. ➡ More than one in two professional service robots sold in 2023 were built for the application class TRANSPORTATION and LOGISTICS. Sales grew by 35%, with nearly 113,000 units sold in 2023. ➡ Hospitality robots are becoming increasingly popular: More than 54,000 units (+31%) were sold in 2023. ➡ Sales of agricultural robots show strong growth (+21%), with almost 20,000 units sold in 2023. ➡ Top 3 countries of Service and Medical Robot Suppliers: The UNITED STATES is home to the largest number of service and medical robot manufacturers in the world, with 199 companies headquartered there. 66% of these manufacturers produce professional service robots, 27% consumer service robots and 12% medical robots. CHINA ranks second with a total of 107 service and medical robot manufacturers. The proportion of companies offering professional service robots is even higher than in the US, at 80%. A total of 34% offer consumer robots and only 5% medical robots. GERMANY ranks third with 83 companies. Like China, it has a very high proportion of professional service robot manufacturers, with a share of 79%. A total of 17% offer consumer applications and 12% medical robots. From a regional perspective, the majority of service and medical robot manufacturers are based in Europe with a global market share of 44%, Asia with 29% and the Americas with 25%. ➡ More facts about Service Robots and World Robotics 2024 in the IFR newsroom: https://lnkd.in/e_vwbBQ5 Best regards – Carsten Heer IFR Press Officer.

WORLD ROBOTICS 2024 REPORT released by IFR: “EUROPE Outpaces ASIA and NORTH AMERICA” ➡ An increase of 9% outpaced growth in both Asia and North America. ➡ Europe reached a new peak of 92,393 industrial robot installations 2023. ➡ The European Union accounted for 80% of installations in Europe. ➡ Europe´s top 3 Germany, which belongs to the five major robot markets in the world, had a share of 31% of the total installations in Europe. Italy followed with a market share of 11%: Installations reached 10,412 units (down 9%), following a record level the previous year. France ranked third in Europe with a market share of 7%. ➡ Growth was strongly driven by the automotive industry in Europe: Installations hit 25,508 units. This was up 32%. ➡ Asia suffered from the low demand of the electronics industry and the automotive industry: 382,073 units were installed in 2023, down 6%. The region is by far the world´s largest market. ➡ Installations in North America decreased by 2% to 47,730 units. Demand from the automotive industry fell by 6%. Across all industries, the result was still the third highest level of installations ever recorded. ➡ Robot installations in Europe are expected to fall significantly by 2024. The war in Ukraine, tight monetary policy and the relative weakness of the European automotive industry compared to China's are dampening investment. On the other hand, there is still a lot of political support for investment in Industry 4.0, and the transition to carbon neutrality as well as the regionalization of supply chains, are providing impetus. ➡ More facts about Europe and World Robotics 2024 in the IFR newsroom: https://lnkd.in/eWzFA3Sa Best regards – Carsten Heer IFR Press Officer.

This is an increase of 59% compared to the previous year. ➡ In terms of annual installations, India now ranks in seventh position worldwide. ➡ India´s operational stock of industrial robots has almost doubled since 2018, reaching 44,958 units in 2023. This represents an average annual growth rate of 14% since 2018. ➡ Installations in the automotive industry jump 139% to 3,551 units in 2023. Both car manufacturers and parts suppliers contributed to this development. ➡ The car segment accounts for a market share of 42%. The general industry in India is led by the rubber and plastics industry with 408 units, up 17%. Installations in the metal industry remained steady at 329 units in 2023. ➡ The long-term potential of robotics in India becomes clearer when compared to China, which has a similar population size: Annual installations in China reached 276,288 units in 2023. This is 32 times higher than the current peak level in India. More facts about World Robotics 2024 in the IFR newsroom: https://lnkd.in/gFqYRw_g Best regards – Carsten Heer IFR Press Officer.

Robotics is one of the key indicators to rate the innovation perfomance of countries around the globe.

🌍 Global Innovation in 2024: A Watershed Moment Yesterday at the press conference of #GlobalInnovationIndex 2024, we took a deep dive into the challenges and opportunities shaping the global innovation landscape. https://lnkd.in/emRv7JKA Two themes emerged that I believe we must focus on: 1️⃣ Worsening Innovation Investment Conditions – And Why It’s a Missed Opportunity While technological potential has never been greater, with breakthroughs in AI, genome sequencing, green technologies, and robotics, innovation investment is slowing down. In 2023 alone, venture capital dropped by a staggering 39%. Global R&D growth is projected to slow to its lowest rate since 2010. This is happening despite an “Innovation Golden Age” during the COVID-19 pandemic, where we saw unprecedented spikes in R&D, scientific breakthroughs, and VC flows to underserved regions. But now, as interest rates rise and economic uncertainty grows, innovation is cooling off. The big question is: Why can’t these gains be sustained? Why can’t we channel this momentum into the areas that need it most, such as healthcare, climate technologies, and education? The potential is there. The GII sends a positive signal: massive improvements in computing power, AI, new materials, and health-related fields like gene and cancer therapies. But these advances come at a cost—pushing the innovation frontier is becoming more expensive. To capitalize on this, we need more investment, not less. This is a crossroads for global innovation. Do we seize this opportunity or let it pass by? 2️⃣ A Changing Global Innovation Landscape – Welcome to the Multipolar Era The global innovation map is shifting dramatically. Innovation is no longer concentrated in just a few regions. We are seeing new leaders emerge: - Asia continues to rise with China, India, Indonesia, Viet Nam, the Philippines and others driving regional growth. - Türkiye and Morocco are now innovation powerhouses outside of Asia. - The Gulf states are strong in the rankings. - In Africa, countries like Kenya, Rwanda, and Mauritius are embracing innovation. This multipolar innovation landscape is not a zero-sum game. It is about leaders like the US, Japan, the Rep. of Korea, and Europe maintaining their strength, with new ecosystems rising alongside them. The question is: Can these emerging ecosystems sustain progress over time? Innovation policy requires persistence over decades. To recall, China, still the only emerging economy in the top 30, took 25 years of persistent effort to ramp up its R&D /GDP ratios to about 2.5%. The potential for innovation has never been clearer. The stakes are high, and so are the rewards. #Innovation #GlobalInnovationIndex
