China's success story with industrial robots is unique: the country is by far the largest robot market in the world. The manufacturing companies invested heavily in automation technology, to achieve higher product quality, better productivity, quicker throughput to be able to produce more goods in the same time - demanded not only by the domestic customers, but also consumers around the globe. The national and local governments backed this development by strongly supporting the industries, through R&D funding, subsidies, educational programs etc. The share of robots that are delivered by domestic Chinese brands is growing year on year, while international brands do have harder times every year to succeed on this highly Price sensitive market.  But the engine of the Chinese economy sputters and the outlook for 2024 is less optimistic.
