📣 Attention to all involved in developing or deploying AI systems for products or services in the EU! On October 10 from 10:00-11:00 AM German time, we will be holding a webinar on the EU AI Act, the first comprehensive regulation of artificial intelligence at the Union level. Admission is free and the webinar will be conducted in German. Our AI expert Dr. Stephan Kremser will discuss the EU AI Act’s importance and its relevant stakeholders, as well as the regulation’s classification framework of AI systems, their respective requirements and sanctions. He will also explore the challenges and opportunities businesses will face with AI and how to best prepare for them. At the end of the webinar, participants have the chance to ask questions to Dr. Stephan Kremser, as well as our Head of Software and Data Technologies, Marc Großerüschkamp. Entering into force in August this year, the EU AI Act addresses concerns about AI safety and transparency by classifying AI systems based on risk levels, with each level subject to specific requirements and sanctions. Moreover, the act supports small and medium-sized companies in developing and training AI models by introducing measures like regulatory sandboxes, which allow real-world testing of AI systems in a controlled environment. 👉 Learn more about the EU AI Act and how to effectively comply with the law by registering for our webinar (link in the comments section). You may also approach Dr. Stephan Kremser directly. #AI #artificialintelligence #AIregulation #machinelearning #innovation

What are the most common gaps found in functional safety assessments? Successful product launches are contingent on meeting industry-specific standards. However, many OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and product manufacturers find it difficult to align with these standards. Whether it’s from the lack of a comprehensive safety plan, problems in classifying and confidently using software tools, or little to no hands-on involvement from safety managers in product development, they ultimately risk failing their functional safety assessments – further delaying the product’s delivery to customers. In our article on the most common gaps found in functional safety assessments, our functional safety expert Mehdi Tavakoli takes a closer look at these gaps, why they happen, and how they can be addressed. He also contextualizes the gaps through the challenges and solutions of following ISO 26262 – the functional safety standard for automotive systems. One gap covered in the article is the impact of a poor safety culture, wherein safety assessments are not sufficiently planned. When a Tier 1 supplier faces development delays as a customer deadline approaches, the focus should shift from merely meeting the deadline to preventing similar issues from arising in the future. Learn more about the topic by reading our article (link in comments). You may also approach our Head of Safety Management Philipp Hofmann directly. #functionalsafety #safetyassessment #safetyculture #safetymanagement #safetyengineering

In what ways do Explainable AI (XAI) methods improve black box models for machine learning?  Although the standard machine learning process and Explainable AI both train an ML model using training data, XAI combines a trained model with an explanatory model and an explainable interface to provide understandable explanations. This allows users to better understand the factors influencing the model’s decisions or output. As an example, Local Interpretable Model-agnostic Explanations (LIME) is an XAI strategy that provides explanations for individual predictions and is applicable to any ML model. LIME operates by slightly tweaking the input data around the input for the individual prediction to see how the black box model’s decision changes, allowing the user to identify which of the input’s features had the greatest impact. In our whitepaper on Explainable AI, our AI experts Trang Nguyen, Dr. Stephan Kremser, and Head of Software & Data Technologies Dr. Marc Großerüschkamp explore XAI, its significance in addressing the shortcomings of typical ML models, and the XAI strategies to be used in specific cases. They also cover the EU AI Act, its risk classification system, requirements and stakeholders. You can download the whitepaper through the link in the comments section. For more information about XAI and other related topics, feel free to approach Marc Großerüschkamp directly. #ai #artificialintelligence #euaiact #machinelearning #xai
