IONITY makes long distance travel with electric vehicles the new normal. The company builds and operates a High Power Charging (HPC) network along Europe's highways, using state-of-the-art technology with a charging capacity of up to 350 kW. By doing so drivers of current and future generations of electric vehicles — using the leading European charging standard CCS (Combined Charging System) — benefit from maximum charging speeds while taking a break on their journey. Every IONITY charging station consists of an average of four charging points. As a commitment to sustainability, all IONITY chargers deliver 100% renewable energy for both emission-free and carbon neutral driving. IONITY is a joint venture of the car manufacturers BMW Group, Ford Motor Company, Hyundai Motor Group, Mercedes Benz AG and Volkswagen Group with Audi and Porsche, along with BlackRocks Climate Infrastructure Platform as financial investor. 🚗🔌 EU Commission & EXPAND-E Partners Celebrate 10 Years of Groundbreaking Investment into European Infrastructure #10YearsofCEF The EXPAND-E (EXpanding Performance and Network Density – Electric) project is a collaboration of six companies, led by IONITY and GreenWay EV Charging Network , alongside Renovatio e-charge, K-Auto, FORTISIS, and Grid Telecom Greece. This initiative consists of three twinned projects—EXPAND-E General, EXPAND-E Cohesion, and EXPAND-E Hungary—with over €70 million in EU funding from CINEA. The project aligns with the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), a crucial EU funding mechanism supporting the European Green Deal and its decarbonisation goals for 2030 and 2050. Over three years, it aims to create a robust high-power pan-European EV charging network, spanning 23 EU Member States from the Baltic to the Mediterranean and Black Seas. As part of the '#10 Years of CEF' campaign, EXPAND-E was highlighted among 12 leading projects. On September 24, 2024, project partners and EU officials met in Lodz, Poland, showcasing the feasibility of electric travel across Europe, from Bratislava to Brussels, thanks to the charging infrastructure developed by EXPAND-E and co-funded by the EU. “Looking back on the state of the EV charging market in Central & Eastern Europe 10 years ago, compared to what it is today, it was a different world. Back then there was almost no public charging and now it is now quite easy to drive from Zagreb to Warsaw with an EV and choose between operators. This is significantly due to the role played by CINEA over this period.
