Term deposits now make up a quarter of deposits in Germany! 🚀 In July 2022, the European Central Bank initiated a series of interest rate hikes, allowing consumers to earn (better) returns on their savings. But how did savers react? To find out, we looked at the changes in deposit composition in Germany.💡 ►Term deposits, or deposits with agreed maturity, now account for nearly a quarter of total deposit volumes in Germany, at 24.6% (€693bn). Just two years ago in July 2022, their share was only 9.8%. For comparison, the last time term deposits exceeded 20% was in 2012. 📈 ►The rise in term deposits has largely come at the expense of overnight deposits, i.e. easy-access and current accounts. After peaking at an all-time high of 69.8% in July 2022, their share has now fallen to 60.7% 📉 ►The final category, deposits redeemable at notice, i.e. savings books and similar products, also saw a significant decline, now accounting for 14.6% of total deposits. In July 2022, they still represented more than one-fifth of total deposit volumes. 👉 Over the past two years, Germans have steadily shifted money into term deposits, largely at the expense of other deposit types. This isn't surprising, as term deposits generally have offered higher interest rates. What stands out, however, is the remarkable speed of this development. ⌛

What use is a great concept if you don’t know about it? Exactly - no use. That's why we launched an extensive above the line marketing campaign in the Netherlands and Ireland – to spread the word about Raisin and our mission to empower #savers to earn more #interest on their money. 💸 From billboards across both countries, to radio spots and prime-time TV commercials, our marketing measures have reached hundreds of thousands of consumers, raising their awareness of how to maximize the return on their cash by saving with Raisin. 📈 If you haven't seen it yet, take a look at one of our commercials for Ireland.👇  Or let us know where you've spotted #Raisin. A thank you goes to Bright8, the Netherlands-based brand agency that devised this remarkable campaign for and with us. 🤝

AI will change investment – but not in the way you might expect 🚨 Artificial Intelligence will have and already has a profound impact on many areas of our lives. One of these areas is also investing and wealth management. It will undergo significant changes, but which ones precisely? 👉 Our Senior Product Designer Benjamin Lorenz answered this question in a recent expert talk at #GeorgeUXConf. His key takes: ▶️The true potential for AI lies not in market prediction – market developments are determined by human behavior and thus inherently uncertain and unpredictable. AI, however, is poised to revolutionize how we interact with and manage our wealth. 💡 ▶️Integration of AI into wealth management requires a deep understanding of what users truly value. Adding new features is not sufficient, it’s about crafting intuitive, seamless experiences that meet the evolving needs and desires of the next generation of investors. ▶️The key for future success thus lies in personalization and empathy of wealth management – if you and your product resonate with customers, you will succeed. This requires more than new technologies – it needs a cultural transformation towards a user-centered approach. 👨💻 Keen to know which four key design principles will help you succeed in this transformation? Then have a look at what Ben had to say - you find the link in the comments.👇 #WealthManagement #ArtificialIntelligence #AI

Kai Wegner, Governing Mayor of Berlin, visited Raisin last week. The visit did not only include a short office tour, but also a pleasant and open exchange about the advantages of Berlin as a location, as well as things that could be improved. 💡 To everyone involved at Senatskanzlei Berlin and the Mayor himself - thank you! 🤝 See below to learn more about the discussed topics. 👇

Putting the “Fin” in “FinTech” | Public Affairs & Relations @Raisin | #30u30 PR Report '23

If I had to put the conversation with #Berlin's Mayor Kai Wegner under a headline, it would be this: Let's break down barriers! 🧱🔨 Let’s... ...break down barriers to financing for fast-growing business models (CMU 👀). ...simplify recruiting of talents and the process of relocation 👨💻 👩💻. ...make expanding, onboarding, and accessibility of products for customers easier. ✅ 1. It is essential for start- and scale-ups to have good access to funding. For comparison: In the US in 2023, the average amount of financing was 5 times (!) that of European funding. In the EU, $52 billion was raised, compared to $138 billion in the USA. 📈 2. Internationality and diversity are core components of Raisin's success. People from 70 different countries work for us - so almost every 10th employee is from another country! It is essential for us that the conditions for arriving, living and working in Berlin are good, as this is certainly one of the main factors in the competition for talent. 🌍 3. As a marketplace, we always think about both sides: Our banking partners and our retail customers. There are hurdles on both sides of the marketplace that make business unnecessarily difficult for us and don't benefit anyone. On the partner bank side, it is hurdles e.g. in the expansion into new markets and complex requirements for the onboarding process. On the customer side, overly complex requirements for terms and conditions, product information, and identification regulations as well as outdated processes that our customers still have to complete on paper represent hurdles to access our bank partners' products. 📜 I am very happy about the pleasant exchange and the fact that progress has already been made on some of the issues. Thanks a lot to Kai Wegner for his time, Steffen Lachnit for the organisation, and Christine Richter and colleagues for the exchange! Also, thanks to Katharina Lueth, Judith Pauly, and Marc Roberts for the insights to each one of our topics. And of course, a special thanks to #Mia (the unofficial VP Treats at Raisin) for giving Mayor Kai Wegner such a warm welcome! ✨ 🐕 (Thanks, Benjamin Lorenz!)

You can leave the village, but not your traditions – Da kali wuza, kho le nerkha ma wuza. 💡 You might not know this proverb, but at least for one Raisineer, it is part of what defines him. Our strength lies in the different stories, backgrounds and unique perspectives of each and every one. 🌍 That is why we want to give you a glimpse of who we are – with our #Younique interviews. ________________ Meet Sayed Muhammad Shah Tahir, he works as a software engineer at Raisin Bank. Sayed is from Pakistan, and has been in Germany for five months, adapting to a new environment. 🇵🇰 🇩🇪 👉 What is your favorite place and why? My favorite place is where I went to boarding school – Cadet College Razmak in the mountainous North-West of Pakistan, near the border with Afghanistan. I joined the school when I was 12, and learned a lot and also had some hardships there. That’s why it is important to me. Whenever I meet my friends from there, we talk about our shared memories and time together. 👉 Which proverb in your native language would you like to share? I am from an area where most speak Pashto – an old language also spoken in Afghanistan. There are a lot of proverbs in Pashto which are funny or serious, but this one is a bit of both: You can leave the village, but not your traditions. Our people bring their traditions everywhere. For example a dance called Attan, with traditional music and dress, wherever we go, we keep and show it. We don’t want to forget our roots and culture. Whenever I can speak Pashto with someone, I am happy as I mostly speak English now. Luckily, there is a strong Pakistani community in Berlin, and we celebrate holidays like Nowruz together, which is New Year and the start of spring around March 21st. 👉 What contributes most to your happiness? At the time I joined the boarding school, my father lost his job. I had a scholarship, so this didn’t affect my education. Later when I entered university, my father still had not been able to find work, also because war prevented him from looking elsewhere. My mother sold some of her jewelry to pay the tuition. She said: “I didn’t get an education, so it’s my wish that you will”. When I completed my degree and got a job, I saved some money, bought the same jewelry, and gave it to my mother. That was one of the best days of my life, because I could return something. I can’t give everything back but I try.

Germans and Irish are fixed-term deposit champions! 🎉 It's been two years since the European Central Bank set off an interest rate rally after a long period of "free money". Reason enough to have a look at how deposits with agreed maturity, i.e. fixed-term #deposits, have developed over the last 24 months. 🔎 ►In the eurozone overall, fixed-term deposit volumes rose by almost 83% between June 2022 and June 2024. This corresponds to an increase of around €860bn to a new record of €1.9tn. ►The winner in this comparison is Ireland with a more than threefold increase. However, in view of the relatively low total volume – €11bn – this top position comes with an asterisk. ►In Germany, over the last two years, the volume of deposits with agreed maturity rose by more than 162% to a total of €685bn. This also marks an all-time high, exceeding the previous record of around €500bn significantly. 📈 ►Bringing up the rear in this comparison is France, where an increase of only 22%, around €80bn, was recorded – probably also due to the popularity of the subsidized Livret A that falls into a different data category. A bit better than France, but still below the eurozone average were the Netherlands and Austria with a plus of 53% and 42% respectively. 👉 In summary, #savers across Europe reacted to higher interest rates and moved money into fixed-term deposits. However, the increases in volume varied strongly with some markets seeing their volumes more than, while others recorded lower but still significant increases. 👈

Our dear colleague Matthias Hennig-Frieten invited manager magazin to his house to talk about the impact of working from home on his and his wife's career. At Raisin we offer the freedom to work from home as much as needed. This is definitely a game changer when it comes to equal careers for parents! And to say it in the words of our CEO Tamas Giorgadse: "Läuft" (it works). #flexible #fintech #Raisin #parenting

It's hard to say what I love most about this article - there's so much 😍 ➡️ The fact that our CEO Tamas Giorgadse gives us the freedom to work from home out of conviction. He says: "How can I attract and retain entrepreneurial, rare talent? Through personal growth and the greatest possible self-determination." Thank you for daring to set an example and say yes directly when manager magazin approached us 🙌 ➡️ The fact that my esteemed colleague Matthias Hennig-Frieten and his wife have opened their home to show how parents can live and work on an equal footing. Thank you for being a great role model 💪 ➡️ The fact that The Economist first took up the topic and described men who work from home as "feminist icons" 🔥 ➡️ And of course, the fact that Eva Buchhorn illustrates very well that flexible working is a prerequisite for both parents to be able to pursue a career - and a decisive factor when it comes to attracting and retaining talent. Thanks for featuring Raisin 🙏 It's a bit of everything, and for me personally it's further proof that I've chosen the right employer 🥰 #equality #fintech #raisin #worklife #workingparents https://lnkd.in/d7yevPu3
