Our colleague Christina Eggert had the pleasure of visiting Munich, Düsseldorf, and Hamburg last week, where she showcased the incredible potential of La Palma as a premier MICE destination. La Palma is truly a treasure waiting to be discovered for all sorts of corporate events – from its incredible landscapes, lush forests, and imposing volcanoes to its fascinating artistic, historical, and natural heritage. However, significant challenges remain—ranging from inadequate infrastructure to a lack of reliable information and even awareness of diverese needs. How can the tourism industry better engage this audience? Accessibility is not just about removing physical barriers, it also involves addressing digital and communication challenges to ensure a truly inclusive experience for everyone.     The ReThinking Africa Foundation had the privilege of hosting an exclusive gathering with His Excellency Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi, alongside a distinguished delegation of German business leaders at SO/Berlin "Stue". This marks a pivotal moment in advancing direct cooperation between Africa and Germany, focusing on tangible business ventures and investment opportunities within Malawi. During the event, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Honourable Minister of Energy, Ibrahim Matola, and Mr. Zeno Fleck, owner of SunPower Development. This paves the way for the development and investment of a 50 MW solar power plant in Malawi and does not only show the strengthening partnership between Germany and Africa, but also underscores the shared commitment to sustainable energy and economic growth.

The event marked a significant step forward in promoting direct cooperation between Africa and Germany, with a focus on concrete business proposals and investment opportunities in Malawi. We are pleased to announce that during the event a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Minister of Energy, Honourable Ibrahim Matola and Mr Zeno Fleck, owner of SunPower Development, for the development and investment of a 50 MW solar power plant in Malawi.
