Koehler Renewable Energy increases its Hydroelectric Presence in Scotland 💧🔋 Koehler Renewable Energy has recently acquired 100% ownership of six run-of-river hydroelectric projects in Scotland. The sites are Kelburn Hydro in Ayrshire, Ledard Hydro in Stirlingshire, Allt an t-Sidhein, Allt Mhuic, Greenfield Burn, and Garaidh Ghualaich, all in the Northwest Highlands of Scotland. Koehler Renewable Energy was previously a minority shareholder in the projects and responsible for their development and construction. Post-construction, Koehler Renewable Energy was also responsible for the asset management of all the projects, and this will continue from its UK office in Dundee. This acquisition demonstrates a significant commitment to expanding Koehler Renewable Energys presence in Scotland and the UK. It contributes to the Koehler Group's commitment to generate more energy from renewable sources using own facilities than is required for paper production by 2030. #hydropower #scotland #renewableenergy #sustainability #energytransition

Koehler Renewable Energy Drives the Energy Transition Forward 🌍💚 The construction of five wind turbines at the new Langer Wald wind farm project in Hesse, Germany has begun! We are proud to realize this significant joint project with our long-standing partner Qair Deutschland. Since the end of May, we have been working diligently on the foundations for the Langer Wald wind farm, which will consist of five V162-6.2 MW wind turbines. The foundation work, each weighing approximately 2,400 tons, is both complex and fascinating, and is now in its final stages. We are eagerly anticipating the next milestone: the construction of the concrete towers. Our turbines will feature a hub height of 166 meters and a rotor diameter of 162 meters, with a generating capacity of 6.2 MW each. The calculated energy production of the five wind turbines is 73,000,000 kWh per year – enough energy to theoretically cover the consumption of around 21,500 households. Following the construction of the concrete towers, we will take a short winter break, and in February 2025, we will continue with the construction of the steel towers, followed by the nacelles and rotor blades. The final completion of the wind turbines is planned for summer 2025. We are proud to contribute to a climate-friendly and sustainable energy supply. Stay tuned for more updates from the construction site! #KoehlerRenewableEnergy #WindPower #RenewableEnergy #Sustainability #LangerWaldWindFarm

Community Impact Spotlight: Transforming St. Andrews Kirk with Edintore Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund 📏🔨 💪 At Koehler Renewable Energy, we’re proud to see the tangible impacts of our support through the Edintore Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund. In 2021, St. Andrews Kirk embarked on an inspiring journey to enhance their facilities by applying for funding to create essential restroom and kitchen amenities. Before this project, the community members had to rely on the goodwill of their neighbors, as the kirk lacked basic toilet and washing facilities. This absence hindered the charity's fundraising efforts and limited the building's public use. Recognizing these challenges, the Edintore Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund stepped in with a grant of £5,574, covering initial costs for planning permissions and necessary consultations. However, as with many projects, the path wasn’t without its hurdles. The pandemic led to delays, including additional requirements from Aberdeenshire Council such as a tree survey and archaeological observations. Despite these challenges, our commitment to supporting meaningful community projects never wavered. In response, the fund provided an additional £13,281 to complete the project. This funding facilitated crucial work: from securing water and drainage systems to improving accessibility with a new disabled parking space. It also supported necessary renovations including decorating, flooring, and scaffolding for window repairs. St. Andrews Kirk now stands as a testament to the power of community support and collaboration. These enhancements not only provide vital facilities but also pave the way for increased community engagement and successful fundraising activities. We're incredibly grateful to be part of such impactful initiatives that drive positive change and strengthen our communities. Here's to many more projects that make a real difference! #communityimpact #sustainabledevelopment #renewableenergy #koehlerrenewableenergy #edintorewindfarm #supportingcommunities

Koehler Renewable Energy is delighted to support the announcement that the UK Government will create GB Energy 👍 GB Energy will be owned by the British people and backed with £8.3 billion of new money over this Parliament to own and invest in clean power projects in regions across the UK. While Koehler Renewable Energy UK welcomes the establishment of GB Energy and the creation of an Onshore Wind Industry Taskforce, we are concerned that smaller to medium-sized renewable firms will be excluded from strategic conversations. We believe that GB Energy represents a critical opportunity for every organisation of every size to play its part in meeting Scotland’s radical green energy goals. As one of Scotland's leading wind farm developers, Koehler Renewable Energy UK is committed to working with local and national stakeholders to ensure Scotland is on track to deliver its 2045 net zero ambition. Our team is ready to contribute their experience and expertise to these evolving discussions, and we are excited to work with the UK and Scottish Governments as they do. Some highlights of GB Energy include: 1. Project development - leading projects through development stages to speed up their delivery whilst capturing more value for the British public 2. Project investment – investing in energy projects alongside the private sector, helping get them off the ground 3. Local Power Plan – supporting local energy generation projects through working with local authorities, combined authorities and communities 4. Supply chains – building supply chains across the UK, boosting energy independence and creating jobs 5. Great British Nuclear – exploring how Great British Energy and Great British Nuclear will work together, including considering how Great British Nuclear functions will fit with Great British Energy You can read the full announcement here: 👉 https://lnkd.in/eW-3k4Pr Read more about the Onshore Wind Industry Taskforce here: 👉 https://lnkd.in/eqBKbCKp You can also read more about Koehler Renewable Energy and the work we undertake in Scotland here: 👉 https://lnkd.in/eQM4R3wV

Coal is a thing of the past 🚛🌱 Yesterday was an important day for the Koehler Group at the Oberkirch site: the very first delivery of biomass for our converted biomass power plant was successful! Beech wood chips from our partner the Zollikofer Group were delivered to test the state-of-the-art conveyor technology and explore the potential of our future "unmanned" reception. Thanks to the seamless unloading process facilitated by a walking floor truck, we successfully transferred the wood chips to the designated receiving pit. From there, the material is stored safely in the massive 4,700 cubic meter silos, with the initial 90 cubic meters already securely stored. This achievement is a major leap towards a more sustainable and efficient energy supply! 🔋💡 #biomass #biomasspowerplant #sustainability #innovation #renewableenergy

The Next Steps Towards Decarbonization 🌱 The Koehler Paper mill in Oberkirch, Germany will switch from hard coal to wood chips, green waste, and mill residue. Converting the combined heat and power plant from hard coal to biomass requires extensive conversion work. The commissioning and testing phase will start in mid-August, and the power plant should run on environmentally friendly biomass starting in October. This project will enable one of the Koehler Group’s largest greenhouse gas emitters to be decarbonized, drastically improving the company’s climate footprint in the process. More than 150,000 metric tons of direct fossil CO₂ emissions will be cut per year at the Oberkirch site as a result of the switch to biomass. #renewableenergy #decarbonization #climatefootprint #biomass
