Spotlight on Ledard Hydro: A Hidden Gem in KRE UK’s Portfolio 🔋🌍 One of the smallest hydro turbines in the Koehler Renewable Energy UK portfolio is the Ledard Hydro site. Commissioned in September 2017, this hydro site was built on the Ledard Burn in the beautiful grounds of the historical Ledard Farm. The turbine generates around 400,000 kWh per annum which is enough to power around 134 homes. 🌊⚡ The powerhouse is nestled in the lower grounds of the farm, behind the spot where it's said that the legendary Rob Roy Macgregor celebrated his 18th birthday. Visitors can enjoy picturesque walks through the glen, passing beautiful waterfalls and the two intake screens that tap into the river’s natural flow. Ledard Hydro operates as one of our run-of-river plants, using a portion of the river’s flow to generate electricity before returning the water back to the river and ecosystem. • 🌱 Securing the Future with Renewable Energy: A Key Step for the Koehler Group🌱 At Koehler Renewable Energy, we are excited to announce a significant milestone in our journey toward sustainability and energy independence. We are planning to erect two wind turbines on the Schwend ridge, just outside Oberkirch; Germany, to directly power our paper production site with self-generated green energy. This is a pivotal move in our broader mission to produce more renewable energy than we need for our paper operations by 2030. ⚡ Why It Matters This wind power project will not only help us reduce CO2 emissions but also secure the long-term future of our Oberkirch site. By generating renewable energy locally, we’ll significantly reduce our dependency on external energy sources and stabilize costs with a fixed price for the next 25 years. This also ensures our ability to meet our climate goals and contribute to a greener future. 🌍 A Commitment to Sustainability and Energy Security Energy security is more important than ever, especially for energy-intensive companies like ours. With the rising energy costs in Germany, our wind farm will provide a reliable, cost-effective power source, directly benefiting the regional economy and contributing to the energy transition. This project underscores our dedication to decarbonizing our production while creating value in the local community. 🏢 Strengthening Local Economy and Job Security In addition to advancing our environmental goals, this project is crucial for the long-term future of the Oberkirch site. It ensures energy supply stability, job security, and reinforces the region as a hub for innovation and sustainable business. We’re proud to play a part in positioning Oberkirch as an attractive location for both businesses and skilled workers. Together, with the local community’s support, we are not just powering our operations but driving forward a vision of sustainability, innovation, and regional growth. 🌱🌬️ #RenewableEnergy #WindPower #Sustainability #GreenEnergy #EnergyTransition #CO2Reduction #KoehlerRenewableEnergy

  • Empowering Communities - How Koehler Renewable Energy’s Edintore Wind Farm is Driving Local Impact and Sustainable Change 🌍 At Koehler Renewable Energy, we believe that community engagement is at the heart of our projects. That’s why we hold regular public events to hear directly from the people who live near our sites. Their input not only shapes the development of our projects but also helps us establish community benefit funds that make a tangible difference in local areas. A prime example of this collaboration is our Edintore Wind Farm. Commissioned in 2016, this six-turbine wind farm, located on an operational sheep and cattle farm near Keith, Moray, produces around 41,000 MWh of clean energy annually - enough to power approx. 10,900 homes each year. The brilliant thing about these turbines is that they only require a wind speed of 2.0 m/s per second to start producing electricity for the grid. Since its commissioning, the Edintore site has contributed over £490,000 to the local community benefit fund, supporting charities and organisations that make a real, lasting impact in the area. We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished at Edintore, and we look forward to continuing our work in partnership with the surrounding area communities to bring a positive change. • Full Steam Ahead 💨🔥⚡ Koehler Renewable Energy operates six biomass combined heat and power plants in Germany. Biomass is full of valuable energy. Although they are not much to look at, wood fractions such as mill residue, landscaping waste, and waste wood are real energy packages. When they are burned in Koehler Renewable Energy’s state-of-the-art cogeneration plants, they not only produce electricity, but also steam, which is used at the Koehler Paper Kehl site, for example, as a direct supply for their paper machines. All other plants in Germany supply sustainable energy to external industry partners and the public grid. ➡️ To learn more about the technology behind the biomass combined heat and power plants, watch the video: https://lnkd.in/eSFZ4UM4 #Sustainability #CO2Reduction #RenewableEnergy #Biomass #KoehlerRenewableEnergy
