The generation of tomorrow investigates the world of robotics.   Today, the #students of the Digital Leadership Academy visited the #KUKA site in Augsburg. Here they were given an exclusive insight into the field of automation and robotics.   A special #highlight was the visit to the Technology and Innovation Centre, where the students had the opportunity to take a robot into their own hands. The students were also given a guided tour of the factory premises and were able to hold interesting discussions with KUKA employees on topics such as #digitalisation, #innovation and #leadership responsibility. Fully automatic leak test system At the BMW Group plant in Hams Hall (near Brimingham, UK), #KUKA successfully integrated an #automated test system for testing all three and four-cylinder engine generations. The test is carried out using two different media: - The oil and water compartments of the engine are tested using compressed air. - The fuel rail is checked with helium in order to detect even small leakage rates. A robot equipped with a sniffer lance checks all screw connections after a penetration time. This concept guarantees high #quality with the shortest cycle times. WORLD ROBOTICS 2024 REPORT released by IFR: “Record 4 Million Robots on Factory Floors Worldwide” ➡ The new World Robotics report recorded 4,281,585 units operating in factories worldwide - an increase of 10%. Annual installations exceeded half a million units for the third consecutive year. By region, 70% of all newly deployed robots 2023 were installed in Asia, 17% in Europe and 10% in the Americas. ➡ China is by far the world´s largest market. The 276,288 industrial robots installed in 2023 represent 51% of the global installations. ➡ Japan remained the second largest global market for industrial robots, behind China. Robot installations reached 46,106 units in 2023 - down 9%. ➡ India is one of the fastest growing emerging Asian economies. Robot installations increased by 59% to 8,510 units in 2023, a new high. ➡ Europe rose 9% to a new high of 92,393 units. In total, 80% of installations in 2023 could be attributed to destinations in the European Union (73,534 units, up by 2%). ➡ Germany, the largest European market and the only European one in the global top five, were up 7% to 28,355 units. ➡ The United States, the largest regional market, accounted for 68% of installations in the Americas in 2023. Robot installations were down by 5% to 37,587, this is the third highest record figure after 2022 and 2018. More news about World Robotics 2024 to come. Open Campus Week is back! On September 17, Center Construction Robotics hosted the construction industry's leading public event on Campus Melaten of RWTH Aachen University. 🏗️👷    Over 250 participants came together to exchange ideas, present current projects and cases to collaboratively shape the future of the construction industry. KUKA was proud to be part of this vibrant gathering and had a special highlight to share: the unveiling of the world's first functional model of a mobile KUKA construction site robot. 🚀    Curtain up for the KMR Iontec Outdoor: The hybrid of tracked mobile platform and industrial robot was developed in cooperation with the Chair of Individualized Production and the Machine Tool Laboratory WZL of RWTH Aachen University as part of a Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - German Research Foundation grant.
