🚀 We are pleased to present another Best Publication of Q3/2024 in the category Natural Language Processing, Large Language Models. The paper is titled "𝗟𝗟𝗠-𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗴𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸" by Timon Ziegenbein, Gabriella Skitalinska, Alireza Bayat Makou and Henning Wachsmuth. Published in: Proceedings of the 62nd Annual Meeting of the Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL 2024). 👾 This research addresses the pressing challenge of ensuring respectful, productive online discussions by rethinking how platforms handle inappropriate content. Rather than relying solely on reactive moderation, this study presents a proactive solution that uses reinforcement learning with large language models (LLMs) to rewrite inappropriate arguments - preserving content while improving appropriateness. The approach significantly outperforms current automated methods and even human benchmarks! This work paves the way for social media platforms to adopt a proactive tool that promotes civil discourse at the content creation stage, thereby improving the quality of online interactions. ➡️ You can read more about the paper here: https://lnkd.in/e97i5iwf #bestpaper #bestpublication #LLM #AI

🚀 We're excited to announce our Best Publication of the Quarter in the category Knowledge Graphs and Bias, titled "Employing Hybrid AI Systems to Trace and Document Bias in ML Pipelines". Published in IEEE, this paper by Mayra Russo, Yasharajsinh Chudasama, Disha Purohit, Sammy Sawischa, and Maria-Esther Vidal addresses a critical issue: documenting and tracing biases in AI and ML systems to improve transparency and explainability. 👾 This research pioneers a hybrid AI system that combines symbolic and sub-symbolic AI to document bias across the ML pipeline, even in seemingly balanced datasets. Through a case study on fake news detection, the authors highlight how bias can impact model performance and outcomes, underscoring the importance of proactive bias assessment in AI development. 💡The study not only introduces innovative documentation methodologies but also provides concrete insights into how predictive variable bias affects training. This is a key contribution to fostering responsible AI. 🔎 You can find out more about the paper here: https://lnkd.in/etJfkXaY
