ADR goes future In 1957, the United Nations agreed a treaty on the international carriage of dangerous goods by road with strict provisions that are continually updated: Under the name of ‚Accord européen relatif au transport international des marchandises Dangereuses par Route’ or « ADR » for short, it is the basis for many certifications required in the commercial vehicle sector. In the year the treaty was signed, the world was still analog and the sum total of data to be transferred in a truck was decidedly limited. The UN has over time regularly adjusted its treaty to current circumstances – as a manufacturer of key components we are at the forefront of this process. Modern, digital systems are used to make work easier not only in offices; they are to be found everywhere these days – also in the transport of goods. Given the shortage of truck drivers, the topic of autonomous driving will in future become an ever hotter one in the logistics sector, too. The data cables needed in all commercial vehicles for this purpose are therefore gaining even more significance. → ADR-certified LEONI Dacar® cables Automotive Cable Solutions is consequently preparing for increased demand for ADR-certified data cables and has, in the past year, already had some of its own data cable products familiar under the Dacar® brand ADR-certified. This certification confirms the cables’ suitability for installation in vehicles that transport hazardous goods. For wiring system manufacturers, this certification of our LEONI Dacar® cables has a major advantage: the cables can be connected directly to the wiring system, making the entire wiring system ADR compliant. Were a manufacturer to use data cables without ADR certification, they would have to take additional action to make the wiring ADR compliant. → Certified classics for camera applications through to base control units LEONI offers cables to match all the key system standards: for instance, coaxial cables are popular for use in camera applications, and we provide options ranging from 50 Ohm to 75 Ohm. LEONI’s CAN-FD cables have been certified for base control units in buses. The selection furthermore stretches to cables for the familiar LVDS systems, and to single-pair, automotive Ethernet cables with speed ratings from 100Mbit/s through to multi-Gigabit solutions that serve the latest, data-hungry applications. In keeping with LEONI’s guiding principle of providing its customers with the right cables of the highest quality, we offer a matching cable with ADR certification for any application. With our LEONI Dacar® cables, we have broadened our existing range of LEONI Adascar® Truck cables that are already available with ADR certification.
