Level Nine had a whirlwind couple of days at Deep Tech Momentum in Berlin last week. Over three days, we met with some hugely impressive founders, investors, and operators from the thriving European Deep Tech scene. The week was doubly exciting for us as we were chosen for not one, but two Acceleration Prizes in the Climate Tech Startup Competition! We’re very grateful to Thong Le Hoang at TOMORROW and Clément Vanden Driessche at Elaia for the recognition and support. These awards will be incredibly valuable for us as we continue to build our next-generation catalyst technology to help enable a renewable chemicals industry. We’re incredibly excited to announce that Montserrat Peñaloza-Amion, PhD has joined our team as a Computational Chemist! Montserrat will be critical for us as we build our ground-breaking nanozyme platform. She has a PhD in Computational Chemistry from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), where she has used cutting-edge computational chemistry techniques to model the behaviour of complex helical polymers and implementation of automated simulation workflows. Most recently, she also developed machine learning models to predict activity of molecules for depression and neurodegenerative diseases. Montserrat’s work will help us to develop novel nanozymes that are low-cost, high-performance, and precisely tuned to the needs of our clients. And we can do so much, much faster than before. 🛫 More exciting news from L/9: Eoin O Neill is the latest addition to our science team! Eoin will drive forward the design and development of our next-generation catalyst technology, with a particular focus on our first nanozymes for use in renewable chemical production 🧪. Eoin has a background in Medicinal and Organic Chemistry and a PhD from one of the world’s leading nanotech research centres, and he brings in a wealth of experience in designing advanced hybrid bionanomaterials and analysing their complex interactions. We’re super-excited to have him on the team, so please give him a big round of applause! 👏 Welcome aboard, Eoin! — P.S.: We have more exciting positions opening up soon, so keep an eye on this space!

🧬 We’re incredibly excited and proud to welcome our new team member: Anju Tomar! Anju will join our science team as an Organic Chemist, and she will be playing a key role in further developing our first nanozyme catalysts for the production of renewable chemicals. During her PhD on the Origins of Life, Anju studied how the planet’s earliest chemical reactions eventually led to the formation of life on earth 🤯. She brings a wealth of experience in organic chemistry, peptide synthesis, and supramolecular catalysis, making her a perfect fit for Level Nine as we build our next-generation catalyst platform, and we couldn’t be more happy to have her with us. Welcome to the team, Anju! 💐
