𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗗𝘂𝗮𝗹-𝗙𝘂𝗲𝗹 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰+ 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗟𝗡𝗚 𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 The innovative Dual-Fuel Electric+ (DFE+) propulsion concept for vessels in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply chain is based on the MAN 49/60DF engine and ABB’s Dynamic AC power distribution and control system. It helps cut carbon footprints and fuel bills for LNG carriers and floating storage regasification units (FSRUs) by allowing higher operational flexibility. DFE+ enables the MAN 49/60DF to run at variable speed over the entire engine load. While the MAN 49/60DF already has best-in-class efficiency, DFE+ manages to raise this efficiency even further and also significant reduces methane slip over the entire engine map, opening up another path for compliance with future emission regulations. 𝗠𝗔𝗡 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗲𝘅𝗶𝗰𝗼 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘂𝗴𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝘅𝗶𝗰𝗼 Mahesh Joshi, Head of the Americas Region; Rafael Martos, Managing Director for Mexico; and Jorge M Vazquez Ruiz, Director of PrimeServ Marine & Power for Mexico, were invited to the National Palace for dinner after the inauguration of the largest refinery in Tabasco, Mexico, earlier this month. The Olmeca Refinery, formerly the Dos Bocas Refinery, now produces ultra-low sulfur diesel and gasoline with a total processing capacity of 340,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd). P Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and newly elected Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum were in attendance along with prominent government officials, PEMEX, and industry representatives. MAN Energy Solutions plays a vital role in the Olmeca Refinery by supplying a DG Steam Turbine and an AG Blower, which are the heart of the Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) plant. With this flagship project, the Mexican government will reduce imports of processed hydrocarbons and move very close to its goal of self-sufficiency. During the speech at dinner, Mahesh Joshi thanked the President and emphasized our company's commitment to Mexico and other future projects with PEMEX. He also thanked the President for his trust in MAN machinery and Volkswagen cars, alluding to López Obrador's VW Jetta. Rafael Martos emphasized that MAN Energy Solutions was very proud to be part of the Olmeca refinery, such an emblematic project for Mexico. He congratulated all those present who contributed to its completion with special thanks to Dr. Leonardo Cornejo and PEMEX President Octavio Oropeza. Jorge Vazquez also expressed his gratitude for the collaboration between Mexico and MAN ES on the project that will serve as a catalyst for progress in Mexico and also generate many jobs in the area.
