mc Group was honored to support Egypt’s successful participation at the China Outbound Travel & Tourism Market (COTTM) held on October 16 in Beijing. This event marks a significant chapter in Egypt’s tourism strategy, with focused efforts on enhancing Sino-Egyptian tourism relations and positioning Egypt as a top destination for Chinese travelers. Led by the Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, H.E. Sherif Fathy, the Egyptian delegation emphasized the potential for cultural exchange and economic growth through strengthened tourism ties with China.
Egypt’s recent tourism surge, driven in part by tripled flights from key Chinese cities, reflects the nation’s commitment to accessibility and service. Mr. Amr El-Kady, CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Authority (ETA), shared that China remains a priority market for Egypt’s tourism sector. With an ambitious goal of welcoming 300,000 Chinese visitors by year-end, ETA is actively expanding its support and services for Chinese tourists. Enhanced infrastructure, including dedicated Chinese-speaking tour guides, specialized dining options, and Chinese-language informational resources, all underscore Egypt's efforts to create a welcoming environment that aligns with travelers' expectations.
In alignment with the Belt and Road Initiative, Egypt also aims to build deeper connections with Chinese tourism operators, establishing long-term partnerships and hosting promotional activities, including FAM trips and experiential campaigns for Chinese travel agencies and influencers. Beyond Cairo’s historic sites and Red Sea resorts, Egypt’s tourism sector is expanding to include new luxury experiences and sustainable tourism initiatives in destinations like Luxor and the Mediterranean coastline, ensuring a diverse array of experiences for visitors.
The upcoming full opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) was also a focal point, as this landmark destination will provide visitors with a world-class exploration of ancient Egyptian civilization through an unmatched collection of artifacts.
As we reflect on Egypt’s impressive achievements and initiatives at COTTM, we are excited for the future of Sino-Egyptian tourism cooperation. Together with the Egyptian Tourism Authority, mc Group remains committed to supporting Egypt’s dynamic growth and strengthening its global tourism footprint.
