The event convened experts from a variety of fields, with a shared interest in investigating the potential of simulation as a transformative tool in automotive development. The scope of discussion encompassed a diverse range of areas, from tire and steering systems to advanced vehicle dynamics. Among the keynote speakers were Prof. Dr. Peter Pfeffer, CEO of MdynamiX, who provided insights into simulator-based vehicle dynamics, as well as Jonas Grötzinger, Senior Expert Vehicle Motion at EDAG, and Helmut Schmitz, Director Sales DACH & Benelux at VI-grade. We were pleased to receive valuable input from Dino Berki of Business Development & Sales at cosin scientific software AG, and Francesco Calabrese, Research Scientist - Tire Modeling and Simulation at the Fraunhofer-Institute für Techno- und Wirtschaftsmathematik (ITWM). They enriched the discussion on simulation technologies by providing essential tire models and sharing their expertise through presentations. Their expertise gave attendees a hands-on look at the cutting-edge developments shaping tomorrow's mobility solutions, coupled with live demonstrations on VI-grade simulators and MdynamiX test benches. This evening event was part of the ‘Delegation Trip to China’ from October 21 to 26, 2024, led by the Bavarian Minister of State Hubert Aiwanger of the Bayerisches Staatsministerium für Wirtschaft, Landesentwicklung und Energie. The focus of this trip was ‘Bavarian Business in China: Addressing Bavarian Interests, Exploring Opportunities in Future Mobility’. It provided an excellent platform to discuss future cooperation and the immense importance of the Chinese market. Our relationship with our Chinese partner is crucial to us. 🚗 MdynamiX Teams Up with auto motor und sport for Car Comparison Tests! 🚗 Over four super productive days, #MdynamiX and the IFM - Institut für Fahrerassistenz und vernetzte Mobilität had the fantastic opportunity to support the auto motor und sport team in their latest car comparison project. We dove deep into evaluating four cars: the Volvo EX30, Mercedes E-Class, Nio ET5, and Tesla Model Y Performance. Three electric, one gas-powered. Our #ADAS team worked hand-in-hand with Auto Motor und Sport’s expert journalists and testers to make sure the comparison was thorough and insightful. 𝗦𝗼, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝘄𝗲 𝗱𝗼? Using our scientifically developed methods, we equipped the cars with high-quality measurement technology to capture accurate data for 𝗼𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 and later analysis with our MXeval software. The four test drivers collected the data on selected routes and at the same time gathered their experience with the systems. The MXevalApp questionnaires guided them through the 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 process, collecting individual ratings for each system. This dual approach gave us a holistic view of each vehicle’s performance, always keeping the 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 front and center. The aim was to provide an in-depth analysis of each car's latest driver assistance systems, from Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) to Lane Keeping Assistance (LKAS) as well as the Park Maneuver Assistant (PMA), and then compare them from a user's perspective. 𝗔 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵'𝘀 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲+𝗙𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿! 🚗💨 Over the course of three days, participants delved into 𝘃𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁 through hands-on sessions. We started with a lecture on suspension basics, followed by a practical workshop on the lift bench. There, we 𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝘀 using the example of a Skoda Octavia RS and a BYD Atto 3. We then tended to test and compare vehicle behaviour and ride comfort on three different simulators. Once in a 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, once in a 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 and once in a 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗱𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺. Participants learnt to subjectively evaluate vehicle dynamics and ride comfort by putting their knowledge to the test in 𝗱𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘂𝘃𝗲r𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱. We also compared steering feel and driving comfort on 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 and tested the 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗼𝗲𝘂𝘃𝗿𝗲 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 on different models.
