Why not do it in collaboration with a company?   We are pleased that Adam has decided to write his bachelor’s thesis in cooperation with MHT Mold & Hotrunner Technology AG as part of his studies in plastics engineering at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences under the leadership of professor Thomas Schröder.   The aim of his bachelor’s thesis on “Comparison of cavity pressure and temperature data with simulation results from #Moldex3D during preform injection molding using a dual hot runner” is to gain a deeper understanding of the accuracy of the simulations and to identify possible differences.   Adam installed two combined pressure and temperature sensors in the cold side of a two-cavity mold. One near the sprue and the other far from the sprue. Processes were run with varying hot runner temperatures and injection speeds.   The second part of the thesis was the installation of thermocouples in hot runner components. The aim here was to compare the temperature distribution during the heating phase and the process on the hot runner side as well as pressure and temperature sensors with the simulation results.   “A big thank you to the great team at MHT AG for the support and the opportunity to write my bachelor’s thesis in a practical environment. The insights into the design of injection molds, process simulations and the collection of sensor data from an injection molding process were extremely valuable. These experiences showed me how important it is to apply theoretical knowledge directly in practice. Working with experienced professionals and working on real projects has greatly enriched my professional development. 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗽𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗼𝗣𝗜𝗧𝗖𝗛® 𝗠𝗼𝗹𝗱🚀 In a world where efficiency and productivity are mandatory, we have once again turned the market upside down and developed our molds, for an even better performance. With our nanoPITCH® mold, you have the possibility to produce up to 33 % more output on the same machine than with one of our upgrade molds. So why not use it? There is no need to buy a new machine to generate more output! We have managed to optimize our molds and thus run molds with a higher number of cavities on the same machines. While it was previously state of the art to install 96-cavity molds on a 3000 kN machine, with the nanoPITCH® mold from MHT Mold & Hotrunner Technology AG it is now possible to use a 128-cavity mold. Moreover, not only 128-cavity tools can be used on the 4000 kN machine. Here we have succeeded in designing the tools in such a way that a 144-cavity tool can also be used. To achieve this, we have reduced the distance between the individual nozzles. The distance tie bars remain the same. As well there will be a 160-cavity mold which is useable on the 4000 kN machine. This innovation enables significantly increased efficiency and production capacity, as more parts can be produced at the same time. This is why you can use your existing machine with our nanoPITCH® molds and our 160-cavity mold to get a higher output.   𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳! We were already able to achieve such results in 2001 by launching the upgrade molds on the market. With these kinds of molds, it was possible to use 96-cavity instead of 72-cavity tools on the 3000 kN and 128-cavity instead of 96-cavity tools on the 4000 kN machines. A revolution in the market even then and with our nanoPITCH® and 160-cavity mold we are creating new opportunities again today.
