Das Nationale Hochleistungsrechnen (NHR) besteht aus einem koordinierten Verbund (NHR-Verbund) von Hochleistungsrechenzentren der Ebene 2 (NHR-Zentren), die auf Grundlage der Bund-Länder-Vereinbarung über die gemeinsame Förderung von Forschungsbauten, Großgeräten und des Nationalen Hochleistungsrechnens an Hochschulen seit dem 1. Januar 2021 gefördert werden. Mit der Errichtung und dem Betrieb des Verbunds von NHR-Zentren soll deren überregional bedeutsamer, nachhaltiger und ressourceneffizienter Einsatz im Dienst der Wissenschaft gefördert werden. Die Nutzungskapazität der NHR-Zentren steht vollständig für eine deutschlandweite Verteilung für Angehörige von Hochschulen zur Verfügung. Neben der bedarfsgerechten Bereitstellung von Rechenkapazität für die Wissenschaft bietet der NHR-Verein ein koordiniertes Beratungsangebot zur Stärkung der Methodenkompetenz des wissenschaftlichen Hochleistungsrechnens für eine effizienten Nutzung dieser Ressource.

👉 NHR Women in HPC (NHR|WHPC) Chapter announces SC24 Travel Grants 👈 The NHR | Women in HPC chapter (NHR|WHPC) is offering six travel grants to SC 2024 taking place in Atlanta, GA, USA, from November 17 – 22, 2024. With these travel grants, each worth up to EUR 2,500, NHR aims to encourage early-career researchers and diversity in the HPC sciences. Applicants must be affiliated with a German university and attend SC’24 conference. To apply, simply submit a CV, reference letter and the completed application form (https://lnkd.in/dN-fzC43) by September 30, 2024 to scholarship@nhr-verein.de. We strongly encourage all individuals (m/f/d) who identify with the goals of WHPC to apply, especially those at the beginning of their scientific careers.

🚀 We had a great HPC conference bringing together our users and HPC specialists! 🚀 Visual highlights + Save the date NHR Conference '25 📸 We are pleased to share with you the highlights of this year's NHR conference, which provided many exciting insights and interesting discussions during and after the scientific presentations and led to many stimulating conversations and exchanges between the participants. 📸 See our highlights from day 2: 🔑 Keynote Address: Dennis Kochmann captivated us with his talk on "AI-assisted inverse design of architected materials," showcasing the innovative intersection of AI and material science. 💬 Panel Discussion: Led by Jan-Martin Wiarda, the discussion on "Research Software Engineering: Towards a culture of sustainable software development in a research environment" sparked insightful conversations about the future of software in research. Participants: Tobias Schwabe, Bernadette Fritzsch, Dominic Kempf, Holger Marschall, Matthias Müller 🌐 Plenary Session: We explored "NHR for Users" and "NHR Women in HPC (NHR|WHPC)" session. Neuwirth In addition to these highlights, we were thrilled to host a variety of invited and contributed talks: Invited Talks: - Computational Engineering: Johann Rudi presented "Extreme-Scale High-Resolution Mantle Convection: Inference through Large-Scale Optimization and Uncertainty Quantification for Earth's Nonlinear Viscosity." - Materials Science: Kai Exner discussed "Electrocatalysis of MXenes: On 2D Materials and Single-Atom Catalysts." - AI & Simulation: Carsten Binnig shared insights on "Towards LLM-augmented Database Systems."
