Product data - that means tech specs, descriptions, drawings, CAD models - is currently shared via Excel and emails between suppliers, assemblers, OEM brands, distributors, and retailers. For most supply chains, that means the processes of: (1) Finding the right article and collect the information from internal systems (30-60 minutes, depending on whether other team members are involved) (2) Downloading and editing the data for sharing in excel and sending via email (30 minutes) (3) Receiving data via email, figuring out what’s what and manually entering it/building an excel for upload in the internal system (30 minutes) is currently done 7-10 times along the supply chain, for each individual component, over and over again as things change. This does not just mean mindless and repetitive work, but lost and stale data. If we had a digitally integrated way to share product information, this would not only save time and resources, but make it much easier for customers and partners to ingest and update their own master data. That’s exactly what the sharing function in the NOCA portal offers, and this Thursday we will show you how. Join our webinar at 10am and check out how individual article catalogues can be created and shared in just a few clicks to level up the customer experience. Sign up link in comments 👇

Do you also suffer from day-to-day conservatism? "Alltagskonservatismus" = the tenacious resistance to any remodeling of the social sphere (or daily habits), no matter how urgent it may seem. We came across the concept in the context of climate crisis and the resistance to change, whether it is less flying, eating less meat, or replacing the car with the bike (see Jens Beckert). But we can also find day-to-day conservatism in companies, especially when it comes to master data management. Replacing excel sheets with a PIM System. Replacing emails with digital order management. Replacing hundreds of emails with a central sharepoint. We are pretty stuck in our processes, even if they suck. So while of this is painful, worthwhile to change and creates a high ROI, it still takes a lot of willpower, training and motivation to change. What day-to-day conservatism habits do you experience?

We are looking for a motivated new team member to join our tech/product team! NOCA is revolutionising the way master data is managed, shared and analysed along the global supply chain of the cycling industry for more efficiency, resilience and ultimately sustainability. This is a great opportunity to join a startup as one of the first employees to drive development across all features, ensure we meet customer requirements, and build a reliable tech stack for the future. It's a lot of responsibility, a lot of freedom, and hopefully fun as you get to work closely with Robert and Anna. You can find the job description in the comments below 👇 And if software development isn't your cup of tea but you know someones who'd be a great fit, please collect some karma points and share the post or job description with them! 🙏

1 bill of material, 100 iterations ≠ 100 Excel sheets! Developing, sharing and updating the bill of material (BOM) of a bike currently requires a myriad of manual tasks, complicated excel sheets with relations between suppliers, components, prices, etc. and a surge of emails. It's a tedious process, prone to error and costly if you think about how much time you and your team spend on master data management and admin tasks. In our next webinar this Thursday (August 15th) at 9.30 am CEST, we will deep dive on the development process of a BOM and how using the NOCA portal cuts down time and costs spend on managing this process. Do battery manufacturers need to give access to their BMS systems? August 2024 marks an important month for the ebike industry, as new compliance requirement of the EU battery regulation 2023/1542 come into place. One of them is Article 14. It states that specifically defined parameters for the state of health and expected lifetime of the battery needs to be included in the battery management system (BMS), as well as provided to third parties in read-only access. We have summarised all important information about Article 14 in the 1-pager below, feel free to download and share. From our conversations, giving access to this data and especially providing the reset function could pose a challenge for battery manufacturers. Any comments?

Got plans for Thursday 10am? ☕ Join us for our webinar on article and variation data management! Throughout its lifetime, a component or product creates a myriad of data points, and managing all of these manually costs time and money, nerves and long-term competitiveness. It's even harder when you have a lot of customisation and variation like the cycling industry does! 🚲 In our webinar we will go through the complexities and benefits of article master data management and how the NOCA portal helps you build an internal single source of truth, that can be easily shared with other supply chain stakeholders. August is starting, bringing new compliance requirements for E-bike batteries according to the EU Battery Regulation 2023/1542 Article 10 and 14. Let's have a look at Article 10: Starting August 18th 2024, LMT batteries (that includes e-bike batteries) placed on the Union market must be: (1) accompanied by a document containing information for electrochemical performance and durability parameters (2) updated in their technical documentation to include information on how the values for the electrochemical performance and durability parameters were measured, calculated or estimated Feel free to download the overview we have created! Another one for Article 14 is in the making - this one focuses on the BMS. The new battery regulation not only sets rules and targets for sustainability, performance, safety, collection, recycling and second life of EV, LMT and industrial batteries. Indirectly, it also encourages collaboration and digital integration along the supply chain - a necessity to ensure the easy flow of data to reduce manual tasks and bureaucratic efforts in compliance. That's where the NOCA portal can help, and why are having a close look at the Battery Regulation and the Digital Product Passport.
