🚀 Wrapping UP TECHARENA Zero 2024 🚀 At TECHARENA ZERO we faced the urgent question: “What side of history do you want to be on?” The event highlighted the crucial role of circular economy and sustainable innovation in shaping a brighter future, calling for a shift from linear thinking to circular strategies. Sweden, the home of unicorns, proved once again why it's a leading startup ecosystem, driving change and fostering disruptive solutions. As our founder Jonas Kjellberg pointed out during the "Product-as-a-Service" panel, this transition isn't just a trend—it's a revolution that may even outpace the internet era in terms of impact. Strong leadership and strategic decisions at the board level are essential for driving this change. KEY TAKEAWAYS Technology has the power to disrupt industries and accelerate the transition to a circular economy. Businesses should embrace this as a valuable opportunity for growth and innovation Strategic leadership is key: Shifting to Product-as-a-Service models demands top-level commitment to disrupt industries and unlock new growth opportunities. Education matters: Teaching decision makers and consumers about the benefits of renting vs. owning will be vital for adoption. Companies must combine commercial value with sustainability to appeal to consumers who seek flexibility and environmental responsibility. Regulatory support accelerates change: New regulations, like the European Sustainability Reporting Standards, can push businesses towards more sustainable practices. We’re proud to have partnered with TECHARENA Zero and showcased our circular furniture in action. The entire event aligned perfectly with circular and sustainable values. Thank you for organising this important meeting point in Stockholm, where innovation, collaboration, and the drive for necessary change took centre stage. Kudos to the NORNORM team for bringing entrepreneurial spirit to the forefront and making the event truly impactful. #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #Startups #OfficeDesign #TechArena

How can founders scale efficiently while maintaining talent density? 🚀 At NORNORM, we help businesses focus on what matters most - scaling, building their teams, and driving impact - while we seamlessly handle their office infrastructure. Our furniture-as-a-service model provides the flexibility and scalability growing companies need, without the headaches of traditional office setups. Hive, one of our subscribers in Berlin, is a great example of this: they’ve been able to focus on what they do best, scaling their operations rapidly, while keeping their workspace agile and adaptive. In the latest episode of Scalers of Europe, NORNORM’s Filip Johannesson sat down with Franz Purucker, co-founder of Hive, to discuss practical lessons from Hive’s rapid scale-up journey. Here are some key takeaways from the conversation: 💡 Talent density matters: Franz emphasised how essential it is to hire top talent and maintain a high-performance culture. Founders should prioritise keeping their teams lean and focused, and act quickly to address hiring mistakes before they impact the business. 📈 Iterate on the go: Scaling means continuously adapting. Franz shared how iterating on ideas and testing solutions early, whether in product development or team building, helps avoid costly missteps down the line. 🌍 Market expansion requires flexibility: Expanding into new markets, as Hive did in the UK, requires adaptability. Franz highlighted how adjusting their go-to-market approach, such as speeding up sales cycles to fit local business culture, was key to success. 💼 Long-term thinking: Franz also stressed the importance of building sustainable routines to prevent burnout. Founders need to focus on long-term growth, both for the business and personally, to keep momentum going without compromising well-being. 🔧 Focus on core competencies: One of Hive’s strengths is focusing on what they do best - e-commerce logistics - while leveraging partners to handle non-core tasks. This allows them to direct their energy into scaling effectively, a valuable lesson for any founder navigating rapid growth. Catch the full interview with Franz on Scalers of Europe, available now on Spotify, for more insights on scaling, culture, and overcoming the challenges of growth. 🎙️ P.S. Check out the Hive team looking slick with their NORNORM furniture 😉 #scaleup #founders #entrepreneurship #growthstrategy

ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS - NORNORM x Syre 🇸🇪 NORNORM is delighted to announce our latest partnership with Syre, a leading textile impact company committed to circularity. Syre has chosen NORNORM’s circular furniture subscription for their new office at Drottninggatan 78, in the heart of Stockholm. This collaboration underscores our shared mission to scale sustainability and circularity. As Syre leads the way in decarbonising and eliminating waste in the textile industry through innovative textile-to-textile recycling, NORNORM provides the flexibility and scalability they need for their workspace. In a world where "actions speak louder than words", Syre’s decision to partner with NORNORM reflects our aligned values in driving real, meaningful change. “We are incredibly proud that Syre has chosen NORNORM as their partner for their new office. Syre is not just talking about circularity—they are living it, and that is precisely the kind of company we love to work with. 🇬🇧 IMPACT 2024 LONDON 🇬🇧 Impact 2024 brought together brilliant minds driving meaningful conversations about the challenges and opportunities ahead. We extend our sincere thanks to the Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the UK for organising Impact 2024—an inspiring day in London where leaders from business, academia, and government convened to address the critical issues of sustainability. It was an honour for our Founder, Jonas Kjellberg alongside Professor Fiona Charnley from the Exeter Centre for the Circular Economy, to share insights on how technological advancements can drive circular business models. How can tech empower the Circular Economy? 👉 Traceability & Product Passports: With tools like blockchain and product passports (now a requirement in the EU), businesses can track materials from manufacture to disposal. This not only helps with recycling but enables companies to recover valuable resources when products reach end-of-life. 👉AI & Reverse logistics: AI-driven route optimisation and higher asset utilisation mean we can manage reverse logistics more efficiently, extending the lifecycle of products and minimizing waste. 👉Design for durability: In a circular economy, the design paradigm shifts. No longer do we design products to be light and cheap. Instead, we focus on creating durable items that we want to reuse, again and again. 3 Takeaways from the day: 1️⃣ Tech and circular economy: The potential of technology to empower circular business models is immense, as highlighted by Jonas Kjellberg and Prof. Fiona Charnley. Leveraging innovation will be essential to reshaping industries to face the future. 2️⃣ Adapt or die: Romina Pourmokhtari, Sweden’s Minister for Climate and the Environment, emphasised that entrepreneurs must adapt or face obsolescence. The climate crisis demands businesses to evolve rapidly—only those embracing sustainability will thrive. 3️⃣ Collaboration is crucial: As discussed throughout the event, more collective learning and collaboration is needed. While great progress is being made, sharing insights and working together is vital for creating real, impactful change in the face of global challenges. A special thanks to Maddy Savage from the BBC for her exceptional role in moderating the session. With her sharp insights and ability to ask tough yet essential questions, she expertly guided us through the talk. With over 150 leaders in the room, it was clear that collaboration and bold action are key to shaping the future of sustainable business. The dialogue must continue as we tackle the climate crisis and work towards the United Nations sustainable development goals. 💚 What side of history will you be on? Let's keep the momentum going!
