The limestone bedrock of Andros Island in the Bahamas contains hundreds of underwater sinkholes formed during the last ice age when sea levels were lower than present. Known as blue holes, these deep flooded caves can be found both on the many islands of Andros, and within the surrounding sea. Known for their stunning blue color and crystal-clear waters, the blue holes are a popular destination for divers and snorkelers.
