  • Recycle. Reuse. Rethink. 🌍♻️   Global Recycling Day is a powerful reminder that all of us need action on sustainability.  At Panasonic, sustainability isn't just a buzzword—it's at the core of our business strategy. Our Panasonic Green Impact strategy focuses on two directions: carbon neutrality (CN) and circular economy (CE), which are the main pillars of our activities.    Therefore, we are very committed to driving circular economy initiatives, from reducing waste to extending product lifecycles. These activities build upon our longstanding experience in recycling, where we have collected a vast amount of experience, especially in our super interesting recycling factory at PETEC (Panasonic Eco Technology Centre) in Japan. Here, we have been recycling and "treasure hunting" for over twenty years.    However, our circular economy approach goes beyond recycling. We started refurbishment and upgrade programs in Japan, where we give products a second life. When customers return their TV sets or other appliances up to two years old, we check and overhaul them according to Panasonic’s high-quality standards, ensuring they’re as reliable as new ones. We also give a full warranty for these products. This is called the "Panasonic Refresh" program. It reduces waste, conserves resources, and aligns with our broader sustainability vision.   Our official online store in Japan plays a key role in this initiative, offering refurbished products that deliver quality while lowering the environmental footprint. 🌱   💡 How are you contributing to a circular economy? Share your ideas and initiatives.    🔗 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/dty8-Ucp

  • What do top athletes and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) have in common with sustainability? It's simple: A lot!   According to our sustainability ambassador athletes, Hannah Mills and Hannah Cockroft OBE, PLY, DL, a thriving world depends on making diverse voices heard and breaking down barriers. 🚧   But here’s the reality when it comes to equality: 🏆 Women in sports still fight for recognition compared to the same disciplines conducted by men. 📣 The media focuses more on appearance than achievement. ✊Marginalized groups face limited opportunities.   Both athletes also see a close connection between gender equality and sustainability, arguing that a flourishing world requires empowered women in leadership. Cockroft summarises: “We must support each other and our planet to achieve a future, rich in health, wealth, and happiness.” 🌍   They both highlight the power of community and mentorship in overcoming barriers. Mills and Cockroft stress the importance of role models and allies in fostering change. They encourage future generations to redefine what is possible for women in sports and beyond.   Let’s challenge biases, elevate marginalised groups of people, and build a stronger, more sustainable world together.🌿💜

From Japan to Europe: Highlights of Ying's experience journey 🌍✨ Just a few weeks ago, we welcomed Ying H. to our European Brand Communications team in Wiesbaden. Let's look at her favorite projects and her first trip to Europe. So where has she been? - End of January: "Cardiff! Wow, this was quite a journey—no direct flights from Frankfurt. But bright and sunny Cardiff welcomed me. The support of the influencer filming with Dr. Thomas Hillig, together with my colleague Dorotea H., was fantastic. It was interesting to see the difference between the Vlog recording my colleague Jie Ren and I are doing and these influencer interviews." Ying has immersed herself in our European operations, connecting with colleagues and business partners. In addition to work projects, she "studied" European food culture. After Cardiff, Ying went to Sankt Leonrot, one hour South of Frankfurt. What would she do in the German countryside? Panasonic Green Impact event has been focusing on education at a German high school and cooking vegan meals with students. "Wow, this is my first time eating gluten-free pasta. No bad. But more importantly, the kids learned they can save CO2 when eating more plant-based food." Plus: Video recordings with German Athlete Malaika Mihambo. "She is amazing." Next stop: Hamburg. International Women's Day. "I had the chance to interview professor Prof. Dr. Brooke A. Gazdag. She gave me an interview with short and sweet statements. Fabulous! - And by the way - Hamburg is great for seafood." "There have been so many wonderful people and places I met and visited, too many to name them all. At the same time, there were so many things I learned and experienced which will give me a fresh view of my career and my personal life." Thank you, Ying, for sharing your experience with us! 🌍💙 Wishing you all the best as you continue your journey. "またね (Mata ne), Ying-chan" - See you soon.👋

Did you know that Panasonic was the first major manufacturer in Japan to introduce the five-day workweek in 1965?   Sixty years ago, when the country was facing economic challenges, founder Konosuke Matsushita boldly decided to prioritize his employees' education and well-being while striving for a work style that focused on productivity rather than longer working hours.   His motto for the 2 days of non-Panasonic work was: "One day of study, one day of rest." He gradually adjusted operations to a five-day work week in line with US standards: "It's not easy to implement a five-day work week when the national economy is facing hard times. But I want you to appreciate the merits of this arrangement and draw your attention to improving towards the high productivity and rational management of the United States, which shall serve as our model." Matsushita understood that innovation comes from people and not just from technology. He believed a well-rested workforce would increase productivity and global competitiveness. 👥 His visionary approach built the foundations for the work-life balance we value today. 🚀 Find out more 👉 https://lnkd.in/e5zj-b-B   #PanasonicEurope #WorkLifeBalance #Innovation #Leadership #History

At Panasonic, we believe this year's IWD was more important than ever – and more than just a celebration, it was a call to action. 📢💜 Whilst gender equality is central to the Sustainable Development Goals* (SDGs) and plays an important role in the workplace, recent challenges around the world have pushed diversity backwards. This makes it even more crucial to stand together, honor women's achievements, and seek more equality and inclusion. That’s why we were so happy to host two esteemed academic thought leaders, Cécile Emery, Ph.D. and Prof. Dr. Brooke A. Gazdag, for an exclusive discussion with Panasonic employees. Their expertise in leadership and diversity shone a light on the tangible actions we can take to create environments where everyone — regardless of gender — has a sense of belonging. Because real change starts with all of us🤝 Curious about what a “cake recipe” has to do with inclusion? Watch the video below to discover a unique perspective on how small actions can make a big and lasting impact. 🎥 Together. Action. Progress.   #PanasonicEurope #IWD2025 #WomensAchievements #GenderEquality   *https://lnkd.in/dWwRQrsf

Imagine being born into a world with no access to electricity. For 737 million people worldwide*, it is reality - limiting opportunities for education, economic independence, and safety. 🛡️* 80% of the world's population without electricity* lives in sub-Saharan Africa. Here , the impact is particularly severe. Women and girls are trapped in cycles of poverty and harmful traditions due to their lack of economic and social independence. This makes them often victims of violence. Since our founding, Panasonic has believed that electrification is more than power - it's empowerment. ✨ In partnership with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Kenya's National Gender and Equality Commission (NGEC), we launched the LIGHT UP THE FUTURE project and donated 100 solar lanterns to women and girls in Orinie Village, Kenya. This follows our 2013 commitment to provide 100,000 solar lanterns to off-grid communities and encourage women and girls to become more independent and develop self-confidence. So far, Panasonic has worked with various partners such as NGOs, NPOs and international organizations to provide more than 120,000 solar lanterns to people in more than 30 countries and regions. 💡 As we approach International Women's Day, we reflect on the power of technology to promote inclusion and diversity, not only in our products but also in the lives we touch, and continue to support women's empowerment.
