🎖📝 Best Paper Award for Innovative Research for Porsche Engineering We’re thrilled to announce that our colleagues have been recognized at the European Conference on Computer Vision (ECCV) for their contributions to computer vision and AI. Our paper, "TrackLidFormer: A Transformer-based Approach for Occluded Object Tracking", won the Best Paper Award at the ROAD++ workshop. This innovative approach enhances the tracking of traffic participants using LiDAR sensors with a flexible transformer architecture, enabling more efficient real-world applications in automated driving. Additionally, our team presented their work "Introducing a Class-Aware Metric for Monocular Depth Estimation", a method that prioritizes distance estimations based on the collision relevance of different vehicle classes. Inspiring Insights: Porsche Engineering’s Research at ITSC 🚗🔬 Porsche Engineering was featured at this year's ITSC (IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems) with five exciting contributions. Our research covered various aspects of virtual validation for automated driving functions, including re-simulation, modeling of vehicle lateral behavior, and 3D reconstruction of traffic signs. These studies enhance the realism and accuracy of simulations.  Moreover, a data-driven approach for optimizing control unit functions in thermal management was presented, which shortens development times and conserves resources. Inclusion meets Motorsport: MotorTherapy 2024 🏁🏎️ This year, Nardò Technical Center (NTC) once again teamed up with the MotoClub Salentum Terrae to support MotorTherapy – an event that provides people with disabilities the chance to experience motorsport in an inclusive environment. Secure Software: A Look at Research In modern vehicles, software plays a crucial role. That's why Porsche Engineering relies on proven methods and comprehensive testing to ensure top quality and detect issues early. 🚗💻 Researchers are actively working on future methods to identify software errors, including the use of artificial intelligence. Professor Ina Schaefer from the Karlsruhe Institute focuses on intelligent testing methods for vehicle variants and software updates, while Professor Ralf Reussner, also from the Karlsruhe Institute, is researching the mathematical verification of software. These innovative approaches are expected to enhance software quality in the future. 🚗💻 Welcoming our new DHBW students to Porsche Engineering! Our new DHBW students started their studies in computer science at Porsche Engineering. Their journey kicked off with team-building activities in Tieringen, alongside students and trainees from Porsche AG. From geocaching and team exercises to a volleyball tournament, the focus was on building strong relationships.  In the coming weeks, they'll dive into a foundational internship with Porsche AG, gaining hands-on experience in production, programming courses, and more. 🚀 Discover New Opportunities: Data & AI Days 2024 🚀 Over the past few days, the Data & AI Days took place at the Weissach Development Center. The fusion of data and AI opens new doors for problem-solving, increasing efficiency, and fostering innovation. These exciting possibilities were showcased through various formats at the event. In addition to inspiring keynote speeches from top management, interactive discussions provided space for exchanging views on artificial intelligence. We were particularly excited about the opportunity to give an expert talk, during which we presented our AI demonstration vehicle: the AI Experience Taycan. Equipped with an AI-capable onboard computer, the "Car Data Box," this vehicle enables the direct testing of AI-based functions within the car.
