Perfect heatsetting II Another machine in the PHS portfolio is the HiPerSet. With the HiPerSet, our single-belt solution, all kinds of yarn can be processed. A specific air guide system provides a constant thermal environment throughout the complete processing station which enables fibres to be treated efficiently with superheated steam and so preserving the structure of the yarn. Your advantages with our HiPerSet at one glance: - Different models for heatsetting up to 84 ends - Superheated steam with the full capacity of heatsetting natural or synthetic fibres - Yarn deposit over the complete width of the conveyor belt - The servo driven synchronized running of all transport rollers results in an even frieze effect - Coiler flyer with servo drive to synchronize coiler belts and yarn feed rollers with conveyor belt - Range of temperature for heatsetting between 115-220 °C - Automatic dew point regulation by DewCap Sensor - High performing cooling unit and monitoring of yarn temperature at yarn take-off

Perfect heatsetting I PHS has a vast experience in heatsetting carpet yarn. With the GVA, the six channel configuration for high volumes of uniform production, natural or synthetic fibres can be efficiently heatset with superheated steam to preserve the structure of the yarn. Your advantages with our GVA at one glance: - Combined solution of straight set yarn and frieze - High efficiency factor: independent production on each of the 5 lines - Special perforations in TRB steam channel enable uniform perfusion of yarn - The temperature can be set from 115- 200 °C; temperature monitoring on each heatsetting channel - Automatic dew point regulation by DewCap Sensor - Lower energy consumption - Tension generator at the TwinAccu results in improved yarn separation over rollers - Quick thread-up and doffing (down to 25 sec.) with the X-Wind Pro - Accurate bobbin build-up and excellent bobbin quality with the innovative servo drive system with yarn speed up to 700m/min.

From chips to carpet 🤓 5. Tufting and Weaving A tufting machine then "stitches" the carpet by piercing the thread through the base material like an oversized sewing machine. Before the needles are pulled back, the yarn is held in place, formed into loose loops and then anchored to the reverse side. 6. Shearing and Dying / Printing By cutting the loops – the shearing of the carpet - to different heights or combining loop and cut yarn, a wide variety of patterns and designs can be created. Depending on whether or not colored yarn is used during weaving, the rug is either sheared immediately after weaving and then dyed or if the carpet is already woven with colored yarn, then shearing can be carried out as the final stage of the process. 7. Backing / Coating In the final stage the carpet is coated on the reverse side and this fixates the woven yarn, increases stability and reduces slipping with the additional advantage of sound-absorption.

From chips to carpet 🤓 4. Heatsetting In order to preserve the structure of the yarn and ultimately to be able to weave a durable carpet, the yarn should be heatset – this means thermofixation of the yarn. If this is not carried out, further processing is difficult due to the tendency of the yarn to curl. For some types of carpets, such as Frieze or Shaggy carpets, a mechanical modulation of the yarn (squiggles, arches, etc.) is requested, and in order to maintain this effect in the finished carpet, the yarn must be heatset prior to weaving. Furthermore, heatsetting leads to a bulk- and tip definition and an improvement of color absorption.
