Führung wird oft mit der Position gleichgesetzt: Wer die Macht hat, anderen sagen zu können, was sie tun sollen, führt. Einen differenzierteren Ansatz wählen Fabiola H. Gerpott, Hanna M. Baum und Anna van der Velde vom Lehrstuhl für Personalführung an der WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management:„Tatsächlich bedeutet Führung, sozialen Einfluss auszuüben, um andere in Richtung eines gemeinsamen Ziels zu beeinflussen.“ Wenn es darum geht, andere dazu zu bewegen, freiwillig mitzumachen, komme Führung über Positionsmacht schnell an ihre Grenzen, argumentieren die drei Wissenschaftlerinnen in ihrem Beitrag. „Klar, wenn ich bereits umfassend an meinem Charisma gearbeitet habe, dann kann ich vielleicht auch einfach nur durch meine Anwesenheit andere mitreißen.“ An dem Punkt nunmal jedoch die wenigsten Führungskräfte. Wie also lassen andere sich beeinflussen?
