As businesses strive to meet ambitious climate and nature goals, the risk of greenwashing has become a critical concern 🌍🌱 To avoid misleading claims, companies must base their sustainability strategies on science. A science-based approach - such as the Science-based Targets Network (SBTN) or the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) - can help organisations set measurable, credible objectives. Find out why integrating these targets into Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) frameworks can allow your business to not only protect its reputation but also meet growing regulatory demands. 👉 https://lnkd.in/dFfiadq4 Greenwashing isn’t just risky - it’s bad for business. #LetsCloseTheGap #Biodiversity #Sustainability #Greenwashing #ClimateAction

Struggling to compare carbon data across different buildings? 🏙📋 Ramboll’s CO2mpare is here to solve that problem! CO2mpare is the world’s first open-access carbon benchmarking tool, providing transparency and consistency in building assessments. Following a major update, CO2mpare now includes over 200 data assessments across 7 countries. This allows us to better understand differences in carbon impacts, for instance, across 11 building typologies and between new builds and refurbishments over their entire life cycle. The Concrete Usage Index (CUI) has also been added to the platform, helping track material use intensity, a critical factor in reducing building emissions. By offering a holistic look at carbon intensity, CO2mpare is helping the industry make smarter, more sustainable decisions. “Going forward, we’ll be continuing to gather more data to gain a clearer understanding of specific trends and detailed insights into areas such as structural design and energy performance,” says Paul Astle, Decarbonisation Lead at Ramboll Find out more about the tool: 👉 https://lnkd.in/eGSj4Aer #LetsCloseTheGap #Decarbonisation #Sustainability

“I went from being completely new to carbon capture and storage to co-authoring a research paper and building an internal network of experts in just a couple of years. I couldn’t have done that without the trust and support from my colleagues.” How do you go from working in oil and gas to working at the forefront of decarbonising the energy sector? And add Sustainability Manager to your resume at the same time? Leandro Henrique C.’s career journey serves as an inspiration to many who want to move their career in a more sustainable direction. The transition can seem demanding but with proper support, it isn't difficult at all. Combining curiosity and passion, Leandro has transformed his career from focusing narrowly on pipeline construction to helping clients decarbonise energy systems and helping clients reduce their carbon emissions. Today he is also responsible for raising the bar on sustainability in all Ramboll Energy’s projects. So, how did he do it? Here’s Leandro’s perspective on what it takes to bring sustainability into your career path and projects: 🤝 Be in an environment that supports growth and responsibility:  Being in an environment where your opinions are valued, regardless of your title, and where you are trusted with new responsibilities allows you to grow with the challenge. “Even as a junior consultant, I never felt ‘junior.’” 🌍 Learn and upskill to innovate:  Surround yourself with peers who want to learn and be the frontrunners for innovation. “We’re not just waiting for clients to ask for the solutions that will decarbonise the energy sector – we’re gathering global teams of experts to research the potential and build our internal expertise so that we’re ready to lead.” 🚀 Seek friendly and collaborative allies:  No groundbreaking solutions are born in isolation. Seek open and helpful environment. “Last time I had a challenge, my trip to the coffee machine ended up being the solution. I bumped into a friendly colleague and they set me up with one of our experts who gave me the insights I needed.”    Read the full article to learn more about how Leandro works for a decarbonised energy sector 👉 https://lnkd.in/d_FeWfAN

How can businesses move beyond profit-first models and embrace a more sustainable future? 🌱✨ We hosted a high-level roundtable with University of California, Berkeley and Rambøll Fonden / Ramboll Foundation at New York Climate Week to explore how businesses can align profitability with purpose in an era of unprecedented global challenges. Nordic countries, including Sweden, Denmark, and Finland, consistently lead global sustainability rankings due to long-standing traditions of stakeholder engagement and long-term business strategies. As US businesses increasingly adopt similar approaches, this roundtable saw a valuable exchange of insights between leaders from both regions. Together, we explored how sustainable capitalism can be achieved by shifting focus from prioritising shareholder value to embracing it, creating a competitive advantage that drives growth and attracts talent. #ClimateWeekNY2024 #Business #Sustainability

Climate change has disproportionate impacts on low-income communities, women, people with disabilities, and indigenous people across the globe 👨👩👧👦🌍 These communities are the least responsible for the problem and yet they suffer the most.  How can governments and businesses effectively address and actively dismantle inequities and disparities? As part of the Climate Week NYC, Ramboll and Henning Larsen invited policymakers, activists, and business leaders to address these issues.   Hear answers from the key note speakers from the event, Diamond Spratling, MPH, Founder and Executive Director of Girl Plus Environment, Victoria Elizabeth Whalen, Co-Executive Director at Future Generations Tribunal, and our own Cheryl Ginyard-Jones, Managing Director of Ramboll Americas. #LetsCloseTheGap #ClimateWeekNY2024
