Forward-looking funding projects: National and international funding can strengthen the #innovation and experimentation activities of companies – we at RENK also gladly participate in various funding programs and contribute our technological #competence.   Best example of this are two exciting projects that are currently being worked on in the area of civil funding at federal level. The first is the ErWind project, in which test benches are being continuously improved using new processes in cooperation with scientific and industrial partners. The aim of this project is to develop a multi-component transducer that enables the precise determination of input loads on #testbenches. This allows simulation models to be validated and critical operating conditions to be better identified. The project was launched in November 2022 and is scheduled to end in September 2026.    In the other pioneering project, called ProHyGen, #offshore wind farm systems are being developed that enable #hydrogen to be produced on the high seas. This requires the electrical grids to enable the functional and efficient operation of electrolysis, considering fluctuating electricity generation from the wind turbine. The project was launched in September 2023 and is scheduled to run until August 2026.

Our visual tour has already taken us to many different RENK locations across Europe and North America. This time we make another stop in the US: Horstman in Sterling Heights, Michigan, was established in 2009 to provide our US focus. It has grown rapidly to a recognized center of excellence for many US programs of record. This includes engineering, project management, #manufacturing, assembly and test services to prime contractors and vehicle OEMs on wheeled and tracked #armoredvehicles. Added to the business in 2016, as part of our engineering integrity strategy, our dedicated #MilAIR team provides customers with advanced #military environmental control. But see for yourself!

Exceptional work deserves to be recognized accordingly: At RENK, we annually #award outstanding theses in the field of drive technology from the School of Engineering and Design at the Technische Universität München. The best master's #thesis, selected by a jury, is awarded EUR 2,500, and the best dissertation is awarded EUR 5,000. The prizes were presented in mid-July during the Day of Engineering and Design. We congratulate Sebastian Sterr for his master's thesis titled “Design and Construction of a Direct-Drive Axial-Flux Permanent Magnet Actuator for Humanoid Robot Locomotion.” He completed this work at the Chair of Applied Mechanics under Prof. Daniel Rixen. The award for the best #dissertation goes to Dominik Kratzer for his dissertation titled “Influence of Near-Surface Properties on Gear Load Capacity,” completed at the Gear Research Center (FZG) under Prof. Karsten Stahl. “I am pleased that RENK, as an industrial company, promotes outstanding scientific research. Both works have greatly impressed us and have absolutely deserved the RENK award. We wish both award winners much success in their professional careers,” emphasized Dr. Michael Heider, Central Technology RENK, on the occasion of the award ceremony. #robotics #innovation (Image: Marc Conzelmann/TUM)

With over 827,000 YouTube subscribers and videos that have been clicked over 2 million times, the The Tank Museum in Bovington, in the southwest of England, is a real internet sensation. Situated on the grounds of the British Army's tank training base, the museum houses around 300 military machines that represent the key battles of all major conflicts since World War I. With such a variety of #tanks, a connection to #military vehicle specialists is only natural - and indeed many of the vehicles are equipped with Horstman components. It includes examples of Horstman designs and vehicles since the 1920s – Horstman itself (a RENK group company) has been based in Bath since 1913 and has been a benchmark for excellence in #safety critical components since the 1920s.   The historical connection between the two institutions goes back a long way – but especially in recent years, the #collaboration has been taken to a new level. Best example: When the museum needed a new AVDS tank engine for one of its two M60s to make it operational again, Horstman took over the organization: The new engine was built by RENK America and delivered from the USA to England. More about the tank, and the collaboration with Horstman / RENK has been compiled by the museum in a watch worthy video: https://lnkd.in/ex-jVW6d.   Ian Pain FIMechE, CEO of the Horstman Group, values the work of the Tank Museum: “The museum provides both a historical perspective and a collective memory of technical achievements. It conveys the necessary lessons from design best practices and combat experience – this is a balancing act that clearly states that war is undesirable and should be avoided – but also acknowledges that the role of the armed forces and industry is to be ready to fight and win." Values that Horstman and RENK also represent.

Competence expansion through 3D printing: Innovative, powerful, and cost-efficient – with the help of #3Dprinting (also known as #additivemanufacturing), solutions can be developed that improve both production processes and end products. Therefore, we at RENK are also focusing on this forward-looking manufacturing process. Together with the Fraunhofer IGCV Institute for Foundry, Composite, and Processing Technology in Augsburg, we have started our own training series on the topic of 3D printing, which aims to guarantee a lively exchange of knowledge and experience on a scientific level. The training makes the #technology tangible, promotes implementations at RENK, and generally strengthens #cooperation with the institute. In an initial #training block, application areas of current metallic AM technologies, business case approaches, as well as suitable materials and post-processing possibilities were presented. In a subsequent workshop, RENK use cases were collected and evaluated and prioritized regarding technical feasibility and economic viability. A laboratory tour was also part of the training: here, already realized component prints and the necessary printing peripherals could be closely examined. The goal for the next training block is to optimize a prioritized use case in terms of design and print a demonstrator based on this. A workshop on the process integration of 3D printing at RENK is also planned, aiming to help further expand our competencies in the field.

We are looking back on some successful trade fairs in June: At the beginning of the month, we presented state-of-the-art #mobilitysolutions for #maritime applications at the Posidonia in Athens, Greece. Shortly after, we showcased our high-quality #testrigs for rail applications and drive systems at the international fair for railway and metro in Shanghai, China. Meanwhile, our Vehicle Mobility Solutions were an important part of Eurosatory in Paris, France, mid-month. The fair was an important industry meeting for us, which we also used for the launch of an #innovation: ATREX is the world’s first hybrid #transmission system designed for main battle tanks: https://lnkd.in/e6ivd6wG The fairs were the ideal place for us to present our products and solutions, as well as to connect and exchange with customers, #industry colleagues, and an interested public. We have already planned several more appearances for the coming months – all dates and news can of course be found on our website. Hope to see you there!

Today, we held the first annual general meeting (AGM) of the RENK Group AG – following a successful #IPO in February. We were able to look back on a successful year in which we significantly increased orders, sales, and results. Many shareholders used the chance to ask questions and engage in lively discussions.   Key takeaways:   - Dividend in the amount of € 0,30 per share decided for all current shareholders. - Dividend distribution in the amount of 40-50% of the adjusted net income planned for the coming financial years. - Karin Sonnenmoser and Doreen Nowotne were newly elected to the supervisory board of the RENK Group AG and Florian Hohenwarter was confirmed in his position.   The #AGM also addressed the current geopolitical challenges: We asked ourselves how we can remain innovative and further improve our processes in such an environment. Even though it may be challenging – we look forward to the coming months with passion and pioneering spirit and are ready to take on #responsibility. Our CEO Susanne Wiegand emphasized: “Our responsibility as a company is to make a significant contribution to the #defense capabilities and operational readiness of the Bundeswehr (German Federal Armed Forces), our alliance partners, and, ultimately, the entire Western world and its values with our solutions.”   The full press release is available here: https://lnkd.in/ecWj6bB9
