Did you know we can give our mtu marine engines a second life by remanufacturing them? The principle is simple and quick: the existing engine is removed and then an mtu engine overhauled according to standardized processes can be reinstalled immediately. Keeping vessel downtime to a minimum is important for a shipping company, so mtu reman engines are often the perfect solution when the engine installed in the vessel has reached the permitted number of operating hours. This saves time, ressources and money for the operator. Combustion engines have always been our core competence. We will continue to use them in the future - but powered not only by fossil fuels but by #sustainablefuels, including within existing fleets. We are among the first manufacturers to have nearly its entire range of diesel engines approved for use with sustainable fuels complying with the EN 15940 standard. More than 80% of our combustion engine portfolio are compliant. This also includes the biofuel #HVO, which is already available today. HVO is a second-generation biofuel that can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 90% depending on the feedstock. Great music and a colorful festival atmosphere - that's what five summer open-air concerts by FN:POP in Friedrichshafen have offered over the past few weeks, delighting young and old alike. Rolls-Royce promotes art and culture in the region as one of the four pillars of its social sponsorship and once again supported the concerts this year as the main sponsor and presenter. Von Wegen Lisbeth and LEONY took to the sold-out stage at the Kulturhaus Caserne in Friedrichshafen, while Clueso, Deine Freunde and Alvaro Soler thrilled almost 11,000 spectators in ideal summer weather right by the lake. "The professional implementation of such an ambitious event project requires good and reliable partners. Many thanks to our facilitator Rolls-Royce Power Systems," said Jens Buck from the organizer Vaddi Concerts GmbH. The sun was smiling at the groundbreaking ceremony that officially marked the start of construction for a battery parc of Encavis AG. Rolls-Royce is supplying an mtu battery energy storage system with an output of 12 megawatts and a storage capacity of 24 megawatt hours for the project which is expected to go into operation in the first quarter of 2025. A large-scale mtu EnergyPack QG storage system with a total of 72 battery cabinets will be built up at an Encavis plant in Hettstedt, Saxony-Anhalt, for the project that was developed with the support of Stadtwerke Hettstedt GmbH. Our intelligent mtu EnergetIQ control platform will ensure optimum performance and flexibility of the energy storage systems. It helps Encavis in trading the electrical energy generated by German wind and solar parks by, among other things, balancing out fluctuations in generation and increasing security of supply. “With the large-scale #batterystorage system, we - together with Encavis AG and Stadtwerke Hettstedt - are making a contribution to the #energytransition as well as to #gridstabilization,” said Andreas Görtz, our President Sustainable Power Solutions. #energytrading #energystorage #batterystorage #BESS

Congratulations to 27 summer graduates! 25 young talents have completed their training at Rolls-Royce in Friedrichshafen, two at the US site in Aiken. The Lake Constance graduates include ten industrial mechanics, one construction mechanic, one metalworking technician, two automation electronics technicians, six mechatronics technicians, two IT specialists and three warehouse specialists. Oswaldo Cruz and Carlos Brito recently completed their two-year apprenticeships at our manufacturing facility in Aiken, South Carolina, and received their high school diplomas and state certificates. Both plan to continue working at the Aiken facility while pursuing their education at the local technical college. Some of the trainees gained international work experience through an exchange in Aiken, USA, an internship in Sydney, Australia with our partner Penske, or an internship with a Portuguese automation systems manufacturer. Most of the graduates are now well equipped to start as skilled workers in various departments within the company.
