Key updates: 🔼 14% Fee Increase: The basic value went from 330,000 to 375,000 sums. 📄 Trademark Fees: Filing costs around $710 for one class, plus $235 per additional class. 🔬 Patent Fees: Patent filings are now $505, and examinations are up to $1,510. 🕰️ Renewals: Trademark extensions for 10 years now cost about $710. Celebrating SMD Group's anniversary! 🍾 From Cartoons to Trademarks: How Loriot Shaped SMD’s Visual Identity 75 Years Ago Who knew that one of Germany’s most celebrated cartoonists left his mark on both entertainment and intellectual property?  Before Victor von Bülow—better known as Loriot—became famous for his witty, satirical depictions of everyday life, he earned his living as a graphic designer. His early career saw him apply his talents to all sorts of projects, including the creation of the original logo for SMD.  75 years ago, Loriot created a logo symbolizing a temple roof standing on three pillars—represented by the spines of books. These pillars signified the trademark registers, which were, believe it or not, hardbound books back then! 📚 Fast forward to today, and while trademark registers have gone fully digital, our commitment to protecting brands remains as solid as ever.  It’s fascinating to think that the man who created iconic cartoons and trademarks such as the ‘forest pug’ also shaped the visual identity of a cutting-edge IP firm.
