Meet Dr Sheng Yang Lee and Karan Bali, PhD at University of Oxford and find out more about career opportunities at Scitaris.

Today we are happy to introduce two Scitaris team members again. Riccardo Di Vincenzo holds degrees in Biotechnology and Biomedical Sciences from University of Cambridge and University of Amsterdam. During is PhD & PostDoc he focused on developing novel vaccine strategies against HIV at FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg and later on in collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light, worked on creating a biosensor for detecting antigen-specific antibodies in patients' sera at the single molecule level. Beyond academia, Riccardo manages a portfolio of real estate properties and has contributed to the development of a go-to-market strategy for a start-up focused on a diabetes monitoring device. Mariia Zeziulia obtained her undergrad from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv which inspired her to pursue her research focus around ion channel biophysics, particularly by the role of ion channels in healthy and disordered nervous system function. This brought her to join the Max Planck Society/ The University of Göttingen as well as the Max Delbrück Center & Leibniz Research Institute for Molecular Pharmacology for her PhD uncovering the role of the acid-activated chloride channel in the resolution of intracellular organelles and exploring the function of the volume-regulated anion channel (VRAC) in hearing. For a change we are introducing a long-standing Scitaris team member today - our Chief Barketing Officer Charlie! 🐶 Since he was young, Charlie has always been the curious and most mischievous of his littermates. When he is not plotting his next mischief, Charlie enjoys lounging on the sofa, begging for belly rubs and playing chase with a sock. His loving, albeit slightly cheeky, nature ensures that he is cherished beyond measure – he has been told by multiple sources he is the epitome of “dackelblick” (German for puppy eyes – i.e: Dackel= dachshund; blick = look) which lets him get away with way more than he should. Being a small breed with short legs, Charlie has inherited the voice of his ancestors. Rather than using it to alert hunters for when they have chased down and located their prey, he uses it to signal when he is not getting sufficient attention or when food/ treat supplies run low. Charlie’s life motto is to work hard and play harder. He takes his work very seriously and as Chief Barketing Officer at Scitaris, he is making his dachshund ancestors proud by motivating his colleagues in the office to work more efficiently, allowing for more “belly rub” time.

Last week the Scitaris team spent 4 days in Vienna for our annual company retreat. Besides a number of educational sessions on the latest internally developed tools by Wignand Muehlhaeuser and a deep dive into the most recent data and trends of GLP-1s & beyond by Nick Groenewoud, we had a great time together with good food, wine, canoeing, hiking and making some customized chocolate ourselves. Thanks to our amazing organization team Daniela Perschke, Onjuli Datta and Alev Bilgin! Where should we travel next year?

A very warm welcome to Eda Celikbas, Ph.D. to the Scitaris team! Eda holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry where she worked on Nanoparticle-enabled diagnosis and combination therapies in cancer. Most recently she held a PostDoc position at UT Southwestern Medical Center in the Biomedical Engineering department within a multi-discplinary research group working on advanced imaging techniques, tumor microenvironment responsive materials, and nanotechnology to advance cancer diagnostics & treatments.
