Space and non-Space converge at Munich New Space Summit 🚀 ⛰️ This year`s Munich New Space Summit was once again a successful opportunity for important conversations and collaborations for representatives from governments, private companies and individuals to redefine the space economy 🏆. In different panel discussions, top experts from industry, academia, policymaking, and program making gave insight into challenges and potentials of the space sector 🚀. Exploring the convergence of space and non-space industries, Prof. Andreas Knopp from #SeRANIS and Chair of Signal Processing at the University of the Bundeswehr Munich, confidently moderated as well as took part as panelist about secure connectivity solutions. For Teodora Secara, ESA, and Luigi Scatteia, PwC France, space should be an enabler for other industries, since seamless integration serves as a key to reach other sectors. For Oliver Wick, space is inspiring for integration in future architecture. Following Clemens Kaiser, RIVADA, space can provide a solution to secure connectivity, though for Dr. Eva Schmid, mainstream industry has little awareness of (the real vulnerability of) space 💡. Andreas points out, once industry is aware of the importance of space, the capacity won`t be enough to satisfy all needs and e.g. to link up all cars 🚘 🚗 anymore ... His summary, that there is still a long way to go 🌌 “to get other industries into the team” and get space into daily life, met with great approval of the other panelists. #Spacesummit #Secureconnectivity #NewSpaceeconosphere #UniBwM #Satellitemission #Innovation 🛰️ -------- SeRANIS -------- 🛰️ SeRANIS (Seamless Radio Access Networks for Internet of Space) is the first and only small satellite mission in the world to provide a publicly accessible multifunctional experimental laboratory in orbit. 🚀 Launch: 2026! dtec.bw is funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU

🚀 𝗦𝗲𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗦 @ 𝐃𝐈𝐄𝐒 𝐀𝐂𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐌𝐈𝐂𝐔𝐒 A key part of this year's DIES ACADEMICUS at the Bundeswehr University Munich was a panel discussion on the topic of #resilience. The panelists— Andreas Knopp from SeRANIS, Michaela Geierhos, Alexander Popp, and Christian Trapp—explored how resilience can be strengthened in our society and illustrated this in a very vivid way from their respective fields of research 💡. They all emphasised the importance of raising awareness of resilience and addressing it in science communication and in the classroom. The panel was moderated by Ursula Münch. DIES ACADEMICUS is a day of academic celebration, often marked by lectures, discussions and events highlighting various academic and social issues. Unsurprisingly, #SeRANIS, the University's flagship research project, played a central role in this year's academic celebrations. As you can see – SeRANIS is not just about cutting-edge space research – it contributes significantly to broader societal challenges, such as fostering resilience. 🛰️ -------- SeRANIS -------- 🛰️ SeRANIS (Seamless Radio Access Networks for Internet of Space) is the first and only small satellite mission in the world to provide a publicly accessible multifunctional experimental laboratory in orbit. 🚀 Launch: 2026! dtec.bw is funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU

🚀 𝗦𝗲𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗜𝗦 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗻𝗶 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁! Recently, a group of alumni from the class of 1971 visited our campus and gained exciting insights into current research projects. A particular highlight of the visit was the presentation of the SeRANIS - Mission by Kevin Li, a dedicated doctoral student from the Chair of Signal Processing (Munich Center for Space Communications). Kevin gave insights into the goals of the mission, the current status and the benefits of the experiments for science, the military and society at large. The alumni were able to experience a model of the real satellite up close and get more first-hand information from Kevin. We are proud to support such ambitious projects and talented researchers like Kevin Li here at the Bundeswehr University Munich and look forward to the further progress of the mission! #Spaceresearch #UniBwM #Satellitemission #Innovation #Alumni 🛰️ -------- SeRANIS -------- 🛰️ SeRANIS (Seamless Radio Access Networks for Internet of Space) is the first and only small satellite mission in the world to provide a publicly accessible multifunctional experimental laboratory in orbit. 🚀 Launch: 2026! dtec.bw is funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU

🚀 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 #dtec 𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞! 🚀 This week, the first dtec.bw Annual Conference ("Jahrestagung") took place on our campus, attended by high-level experts from politics, Bundeswehr, academia and business. It was a dynamic exchange of ideas on the latest technological advances, with flagship projects taking center stage - probably most prominently #SeRANIS! Prof. Andreas Knopp was invited to prominently present SeRANIS to a packed Audimax on day one. On the second day, participants had the exclusive opportunity to experience first-hand experiments in the antenna area that demonstrated our innovative dual-use research. This gave participants the opportunity to talk to the respective lab managers to learn more about SeRANIS, including current research activities, the importance of space, and the New Space movement. SeRANIS is clearly paving the way for the future of secure satellite systems, and we are only at the beginning! 🌍🚀 The next annual dtec.bw conference will take place in Hamburg (Helmut-Schmidt-Universität/Universität der Bundeswehr Hamburg), Germany. #Innovation #SpaceTech #SeRANIS #DTEC #SatelliteCommunications #DefenseTech | Geralt Siebert | Christian Hofmann | Klaus Wangelin 🛰️ -------- SeRANIS -------- 🛰️ SeRANIS (Seamless Radio Access Networks for Internet of Space) is the first and only small satellite mission in the world to provide a publicly accessible multifunctional experimental laboratory in orbit. 🚀 Launch: 2025! dtec.bw is funded by the European Union – NextGenerationEU

𝐈‘𝐦 𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐲 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈’𝐦 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐞… 🧳 🛰 Our central lab unit, led by Prof. Dr. Roger Förstner, lies at the heart of SeRANIS and is responsible for uniting all experiments and holding the space mission together! With over 15 intertwined experiments, the SeRANIS mission goes beyond standard procedure and is far more complex than a single-application satellite mission. It is therefore quite a challenge to bring all the parts, experiments, and requirements together into a single satellite and optimize the mission. 𝑯𝒐𝒘 𝒅𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒚 𝒅𝒐 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕?
