Attention, please! We have our winners. 🌟 After 48 hours of intense collaboration, a lot of creativity, and not a lot of sleep, we’re happy to announce the top 3 teams from this year’s #SICKSolutionHackathon. 🥇 1st Place: Felix Farm (Sneha Rao, Israel Ben David, Orin Pour, Tomer Shavit) - They developed an innovative solution for efficient water use in agriculture. Their app uses sensor data and weather information to show farmers exactly when and how much water is needed – powered by machine learning and intelligent software. 🥈 2nd Place: JG (Avtandil Janjgava, Luka Oniani, Masaya Seki, Shunsuke Iwasaki, Yuto Hirakawa) - For their development of an interactive app that helps users find and book available parking spots to make their workday easier. Using an industrial camera, the smart parking system detects free spaces or assigns registered users to the best spot. 🥉 3rd Place: Team Party (Harry Verhoef, Romane Castera, 🚀Ryan Gregory) - Increased safety in industrial workplaces through multidimensional monitoring and real-time tracking – that's the innovative solution from Team Party. Using the SICK Visionary 3D camera, the system ensures workers are wearing their helmets and moving safely within production. We're incredibly proud of ALL the participants - your hard work, passion, and energy made this hackathon an unforgettable experience. The level of skill, drive, and teamwork that was shown was truly inspiring to witness and it seems like the future of innovation is in good hands. 💙 A huge thank you also to our partners, coaches, and all those who supported this hackathon. We could not have done it without you! #SICKSensorIntelligence #Innovation #Hackathon #winners

Have you heard of the "Crazy 8" method? 🎱 It’s not just a catchy name—this technique is a highly effective way to generate innovative ideas within a short timeframe. It’s particularly valuable for events like the SICK Solution Hackathon, where success is about more than just programming; it’s about identifying creative solutions and collaborating to turn them into reality. Interested in learning more? Sam Larsen-Disney - our keynote speaker at the #SICKSolutionHackathon - has the answer! #ideas #innovation

The countdown is on: Only four more days until the #SICKSolutionHackathon. The place to be around solving IoT challenges of the world of industrial automation! Last year Sophie Langer from Ericsson was a Hackcoach there. Here she explains what her tasks were all about: ⏬ Taking advantage of 5G in the industry is really beneficial! As a coach last year, I was responsible for a challenge regarding this huge topic under the category #makeitgreen. But before we can use data to help save energy, for example, we first have to make it visible. That's why everything at the Hackathon is interlinked. Just like in "real life". With the solutions from the "Make it Green" challenge, we can use various levers to bring more sustainability to the industry.🌱 But we have to keep reminding ourselves that change starts with ourselves! Which machines, which devices are not used at all times? Where do I have unnecessary and energy-guzzling idling? We need to realize that we have accumulated #BigData without knowing exactly what we are actually doing with it. That must be our next Big Task. To stick with the challenge: If we have received data about a sensor, for example how a workpiece works, then we can foresee whether and when there is a need for maintenance, repair and replacement. To do this, it is really important to obtain real-time data without data loss. And we can only achieve this with reliable connectivity and, especially if mobile devices are involved, fluid cell handovers, i.e., a transition from one cell to the next. To understand how important 5G is, we brought a private 5G network for our hackers. This works like a public network, but is scaled down and optimized for industrial environment. Exploring the cooperation between 5G and sensors was an exciting undertaking at the last SICK Solution Hackathon. ⏩ Are you curious what will happen this year? In logistics, a pallet isn’t simply a pallet. The German health and beauty chain Dirk Rossmann GmbH, for example, handles various models in its warehouses to make sure each of its 23,000 products get to the right shelves in its 4,732 stores. To ensure that incoming pallets are accurately identified, classified and sorted, the company relies on a complex interplay of sensors and cameras within a pallet-classification system (PACS) and real-time localization system (Tag-LOC). Read on to find out more about the technology behind these systems and how BSS Bohnenberg GmbH implemented this solution: https://lnkd.in/eNUCvPeq #SICKSensorIntelligence #logistics #trackandtrace

Red, green, or blue? 🍭 Products like sweets come in all kinds of colors, so matching packaging with contents is key to maintaining quality. With the Inspector83x and SICK Nova, this can be done directly on the device. By leveraging color imaging, it’s now possible to sort items, detect defects, and verify quality - all at high speed. Andreas Wiedholz and Franziska Herrmann were one of the Hackcoaches of last year’s #SICKSolutionHackathon. They work for XITASO, a software service provider for high-end solutions in mechanical and plant engineering. What did they experience at the last years Hackathon? “We’re more likely to be run over by a human than a robot ...” Preferably not at all, of course, but thanks to our work as coaches and the use case "Safe Detection of Humans", we’re confident that we won't be run over by an automated vehicle in the future. 💡 That’s why our use case was tagged with the challenge #makeitsafe. The aim was to conserve and protect resources. Including people. We specifically addressed the detection of humans by sensors - this is important because robot-human collaboration will continue to deepen. 🤜 🤛 Machines must learn to perceive their environment in all directions and also to find their way around new environments immediately. To do this, all sensors must work together. And that was one of the main tasks of the challenge: to calibrate sensors so that the information can fuse. It was fun to see how the participants taught the machines to "see". 👀 So let's see what's in store for them this year! Who would you trust more for human detection? Man or machine? Write it in the comments! 👇 #SICKSensorIntelligence #deeplearning #AGV #sensors #humanmachineinteraction
