It is a place of creativity, encounter, and exchange. Here ideas flourish and make the future. You have a business idea, but do not really know how to start? You are looking for co-workers who will lead your project together with you? You and your team are looking for an office workplace? We have what you need! The Startup Incubator Berlin is aimed at all those who are only at the beginning of their start-up project or are already in the active start-up phase. Now it's time to summarize the most intensive week in our Handstree journey. The Catapult program by The LHoFT - Luxembourg House of Financial Technology exceeded our expectations and we were proud to participate there. Moreover, we've never experienced such a tight program focused on startup growth and scaling. Every day, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., the Catapult team eagerly worked to reformat our mindsets, pushing us to see opportunities for our companies and to view our strengths and weaknesses from a different perspective. We attended events from the BPF to Luxembourg Venture Days at LuxExpo. From exploring the financial industry and startup ecosystem in Luxembourg, taxation, and company formation, to the crucial implementation of impact metrics and measurements to meet EU standards in our work — it was comprehensive. We are also happy to be in one cohort with colleagues from the Ukrainian FinTech ecosystem, who truly inspired us with their solutions and shared our passion for work and values: 🇺🇦 Denys Galenko from Allpass.ai, Andrew Nikulin from Midcontract, Liudmyla Ginner from AgriAnalytica, and Zurab Kotaria from Identomat. Additionally, we’re excited about the potential for collaboration with members of the Ukrainian startup and FinTech ecosystem, with whom we found many common topics for cooperation: Rostyslav Dyuk, Elizabeth Ivankevych, Valeriia Kotsur, Olena MALCHYK, Olha Afanasyeva, Viktoriia Tymtsias, Nataliia Kozakevych, Oleh Skakun, and Taras Garashchenko. I’ve never seen such a motivated and well-balanced team as Alex Panican, Luca Mancuso 🇱🇺, Maribel P.V., Eric Devillet (who took the best photos of me ever), Antony Martini, Ella Jordan, Romain Iovalone, the rest of the team, but especially, dear Annabelle Albert-Fonteneau, who cared for us like a mom in the best possible way. She added so much hospitality and made us feel at home. But none of this could have happened without Nasir Zubairi, who founded LHoFT and built such a self-sustainable and passionate team. He personally inspired me with his unique and impactful leadership style. I will never forget the personal advice you gave me. And most importantly — thanks to the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade and personally to Louis de Muyser for the financial support of the program, our participation, and the prize. Every penny will be spent to connect as many European donors as possible with the strongest and most resilient Ukrainian nonprofits through Handstree platform. Finally, this was all made possible by our powerful team — Lia Ivolhina, Yanina Shabanova, and Ruslan Karandeyev — who continue delivering our solution despite the challenges. I’m so proud of you all.

Was passiert, wenn fünf Hochschulen zum ersten Mal ein Festival für Transfer organisieren? Es funktioniert! Ende September hat die HWR Berlin gemeinsam mit vier weiteren Berliner Hochschulen das Wissenschaftsfestival Transferale zu Klima und Gesundheit veranstaltet. An drei spannenden Tagen wurde das silent green Kulturquartier in Berlin-Wedding zum Treffpunkt für Forschung, Praxis und Stadtgesellschaft – und bot eine Bühne für innovative Ansätze und Ideen. Als Teil von Zukunft findet Stadt. Hochschulnetzwerk für ein resilientes Berlin war die HWR Berlin mit tollen Beiträgen beteiligt – ein großer Dank an unsere Wissenschaftler*innen für ihr Engagement: 🔹 Mittwoch: ➤ Startschuss zum Thema Farbeimer-Recycling im Projekt #InnovationWorkRetreats. Hier arbeiten Forschende aus dem Verbund und Praktiker*innen zwei Tage lang an co-kreativen Lösungen. Auf der Transferale kamen die Teilnehmenden zum 1. Mal zusammen, um die gemeinsame Arbeit im nächsten Retreat zur Thema zu planen. Koordiniert wird das Format von Mechthild Bonnen (HWR Berlin). ➤ Parallel startete der Makeathon „Regenwasser nutzen. Trinkwasser sparen“, mit vielen Partner*innen und dem Berliner Hochschule für Technik (BHT) Startup Hub organisierten ihn die HWR Berlin-Lehrbeauftragten Luzius Rueedi und Christian Schlimok – die Ergebnisse der Teilnehmenden wurden am Freitag präsentiert. 🔹 Donnerstag: ➤ Zu Fragen der nachhaltigen Gebäudenutzung präsentierten sich drei Projekte dem Publikum: Die #CO2-Detektive zeigten, wie der CO2-Ausstoß von technischen Anlagen in Gebäuden gemessen werden kann (Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jan Mugele und Nikolai Kononenko). Prof. Dr. Dietmar Lundszien stellte den Ansatz der kalten Nahwärmenetze vor, die im Reallabor #KWArtier erforscht werden. Im Projekt #KlinKe wurden 12 Prozesse in Krankenhäusern untersucht und Maßnahmen entwickelt, um den CO2-Fußabdruck zu senken (Prof. Dr. Silke Bustamante & Martina Martinovic) ➤ Am Nachmittag präsentierte Holger Zimmermann die laufende Entwicklung der Plattform #HAWmatch – unser „Transfer-Tinder“ der Zukunft für die Vernetzung von Forschung und Praxis. Highlight zum Anfassen: das Missions-Puzzle, hergestellt zusammen mit dem #GlasBox #Makerspace der Berliner Hochschule für Technik (BHT). 🔹 Freitag: ➤ Neben KWArtier (Prof. Dr. Andrea Pelzeter) präsentierte sich auch das HyAirLogic Lab, das die Nutzung wasserstoffbetriebener Frachtdrohnen für die urbane Logistik untersucht (Prof. Dr. Prof. Dr. Hannes Kübel, Sarah Ben Bernou). ➤ Mit dem Spiel Horizon Makers von Prof. Dr. Avo Schönbohm und Jonny Bongers konnten Gäste eigene Lösungen für die urbane Zukunft pitchen und die Fähigkeit stärken, zukünftige Entwicklungen zu verstehen und aktiv mitzugestalten. #DSM24 is out now 💥 Der Startup-Verband hat den Deutschen Startup Monitor 2024 veröffentlicht und es gibt so viele spannende Erkenntnisse zu besprechen ⤵️ Was fällt auf? #Internationalisierung: Der Anteil ausländischer Mitarbeitende steigt weiter und liegt jetzt bei 30,8%! Immer mehr Startups setzen Englisch als Arbeitssprache ein – das zeigt, wie international das deutsche Ökosystem geworden ist. 🌍 #Finanzierungsbedarf: 74,1% der Startups planen, in den nächsten 12 Monaten Kapital aufzunehmen, vor allem im Bereich zwischen 500.000 und 2 Millionen EUR.
