Universities have departments, but what if Real-World Problems cross these boundaries?
Inspiring days of training on transdisciplinary research methods at Université Gustave Eiffel are coming to an end. We explored the fundamentals, challenges, and stories behind transdisciplinary research designs. It was a pleasure to spend these highly experimental days with students from all over the world, including students from my home University, Cologne University of Applied Sciences, watching them step out of their comfort zones, adopt new perspectives, and move beyond their usual technical language, embracing the power of metaphors.
Their openness to explore new approaches, curiosities, and conversations across disciplines was impressive, especially as they recognised that no single discipline holds the answers to the #globalchallenges we face. #Transdisciplinary collaboration isn’t easy; it requires time, energy, and a shift in thinking, but it also opens up new horizons. As one student wisely said: *"If you want to walk fast, walk alone; if you want to walk far, walk together."*
I can only congratulate the #ClearDoc program to this vivid cohort. Wishing them all the best for the years ahead and encourage encounters within and beyond academia.
