🌐 Erster photonischer Quantencomputer in Deutschland rechnet in Paderborn 🤩 Wissenschaftler*innen der #UniPaderborn haben es in Zusammenarbeit mit den Partnern Menlo Systems, Fraunhofer IOF Jena und Swabian Instruments geschafft, den ersten photonischen #Quantencomputer Deutschlands zu entwickeln – den „PaQS“ („Paderborn Quantum Sampler“). Dieser Forschungserfolg öffnet Türen zu neuen Möglichkeiten im Bereich der Energiewende, Medikamentenforschung oder abhörsicheren Kommunikation. 👏🏼 💡 Mit PaQS wurde Europas größte „Gaußsche-Boson-Sampling-Maschine“ realisiert. Dabei wird – vereinfacht ausgedrückt – gemessen, aus welchen Ausgängen eines photonischen Netzwerkes die Photonen kommen. Im Gegensatz zu früheren Implementierungen haben die Paderborner Wissenschaftler*innen PaQS mit einem vorausschauenden Blick in Richtung Systemintegration und vollständiger Programmierbarkeit gebaut. Preprint Alert! I’m excited to share our preprint: ''On-demand single photon generation and coherent control of excitons from resonantly driven nanowire quantum dots.'' https://lnkd.in/gHBBDMnp In this study, we demonstrate Rabi oscillations of the exciton emission, showcasing coherent control of excitonic states in resonantly excited nanowire quantum dots. We observe Rabi oscillations up to 3π, confirming the ability to drive multiple excitation and de-excitation cycles within the nanowire quantum dot system. Additionally, we report sub-Poissonian emission statistics, with a second-order autocorrelation value of g(2)(0) = 0.078 for the charged exciton, highlighting the successful generation of on-demand single photons. This is achieved through s-shell resonant excitation, which mitigates dephasing effects typically observed in above-band excitation. ✨ 🎶 On September 4th, 2024, the world premiere of "Bruqner - The Sound of Entanglement" took place at Ars Electronica 2024 in Linz, Austria. Inspired by Bruckner’s legacy and the Nobel Prize-winning work of Anton Zeilinger on the Bell’s experiment, the musician and composer Clemens Wenger, the visual artist Enar de Dios Rodríguez, as well as the experimental physicists and theoretical computer scientists Martin Ringbauer (Universität Innsbruck), Johannes Kofler, Richard Küng, Alexander Ploier (Johannes Kepler Universität Linz), Benjamin Orthner and Philipp Haslinger (TU Wien Atominstitut) sought to merge Austria’s rich musical heritage with cutting-edge quantum science. This unique event explored quantum entanglement and Bell's inequality through music, featuring our cutting-edge Time Tagger device.
