Title: "Quantitative Methods for Analyzing Velocity Gradients (G-Values) in Rapid Mixing and Flocculation Tanks using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Simulations." Among other topics, we'll reveal how conventional CFD-RANS solvers significantly underpredict velocity gradients in stirred tank reactors. In contrast, M-STAR—a Lattice-Boltzmann solver using Large Eddy Simulation for turbulence modeling—successfully computes total energy dissipation, leading to accurate predictions of velocity gradients. We'll also discuss the advantages of conducting lifelines-shear-exposure analysis for floc populations instead of analyzing G-Value distributions over the averaged flow within a reactor volume.
