"The essence of leadership is understanding people." That was Thomas Staller’s message, CEO of ID37 Company, in his presentation "How to lead with AI" at the 10th Tech Open Air. Moreover, he explained how psychometric data and AI can support managers to fully understand their people with success. Thank you Daniela Ditta for the invitation, and thank you Pamela Pompas Oreiro, Álvaro Viegas, and our brilliant moderator Jocelyne Royer – you all were wonderful hosts 😍 Finally, “Happy Birthday, TOA!” 🎂 We look forward to the next few years with tech geeks and their innovations, start-ups, trends and everyone who is part of this ecosystem! #TOAfestival #TOA24 #leadership #ai #people #tech

Last week at Tech Open Air, I shared our latest Workforce Lab data. One finding that sparked a lot of interest was the gender gap we are seeing with AI usage. - Overall men are using AI more than women. - And, the difference is biggest amongst GenZ, where GenZ men are 25% more likely to use AI than GenZ women. There is so much to unpack there, but I think the most important thing to focus on as leaders is how to close that gap. The people who are using AI today are the people who will be defining the future of it, and we want that group to be representative of our entire population, and it's currently not. I loved the energy at TOA, and also loved sitting down with Ayşe A. and chatting about all things AI. Read our full report here: https://lnkd.in/g9uM_EJD

Tech, innovation, thought leaders – the energy was contagious at Tech Open Air Berlin last week. We set up our pop-up studio and captured some fantastic interviews with some of the brightest minds in the industry (stay tuned for those!). ️ But TOA Berlin is so much more than just talks. It's the connections made, the ideas sparked, and the sheer vibrancy of the entire event. We tried to cram all that into a short highlight reel, but let's be honest – it was TOA-ally hard not to turn it into a mini-documentary! Check out the video below and get a taste of the magic that was TOA Berlin 2024. If you were there, let us know in the comments what your favorite part was. I was back in Berlin on Thursday to speak at Tech Open Air about “Technological Modernity, AI, and a Human-Centric Future” (following my joint session with Harvard Business School Professor Amy Edmondson at republica GmbH in Berlin on 28 May). Some of other speakers included OpenAI Chief Architect Colin Jarvis, Spotify Head of Podcast Saruul Krause-Jentsch, Founder of SoundCloud and Dance Eric Quidenus-Wahlforss, Harvard University Professor Avi Loeb, Connor Murphy, Aarish Shah, Christine Gould, Martina Silov, Alessa Berg, and Joe Fitzsimons. My session centered around the importance of a sociotechnical approach to AI adoption in the workplace (this is what my work focuses on at Authentic Social). • I explored the balance between AI technologies and traditional methods in driving organizational change • I emphasized the importance of a sociotechnical approach to AI adoption, jointly optimizing people and technology • I contextualized the discussion within the broader macro environment of technological modernity Some interesting stats I cited in my presentation… ❗️66% of leaders dissatisfied or ambivalent with progress their companies have made with Al, and only 6% have 'begun upskilling in a meaningful way', per BCG survey of more than 1,400 C-Suite Execs in 50 markets (BCG, Jan 2024) ❗️ According to a May 2024 IBM report, more than half of CEO respondents say they are pushing their organization to adopt generative Al more quickly than some employees are comfortable with (IBM, May 2024) I’ll post the video link once it is made available :) Thank you to Pamela Pompas Oreiro, Dina Maree, Niko Woischnik, and the TOA team for such a great experience! & great to meet Maisa Dabus, David Asabina, Elena Dimoska Sorrentino, Kaidlyne Neukam, Kardelen Kose Cakir, and many others :) https://lnkd.in/eXx8Rz85 — I featured Helsinki-based Dr. Anna Lahtinen and team’s cartoon in my “sociotechnical AI adoption” slide—please check out her team’s work on SME AI adoption! #ai #aiadoption #hybridwork #remotework #berlin #sociotechnical #modernity #futurism #aiandwork

Last week at Tech Open Air Berlin I had the immense pleasure of hosting a panel with a topic that is very close to my heart: THE FUTURE OF WORK. What started out as a rather intriguing conversation about remote work, the shortage of talent, a shift from facetime to value-based output, and AI, of course, at some point always came back to two issues I am very, very passionate about: Lifelong learning / growth mindset, and what we can do for our future workforce / what needs to change in our current educational system for children & young adults. We only had 30 minutes, but we could have continued for hours. Thank you Niko Woischnik for giving us the opportunity to bring such an important, and rather philosophical topic to Tech Open Air. And thank you thank you Joshua Greene, Megan Knab, Felix Steffens, Aarish Shah for sharing the stage with me. Very inspiring. Let's make this an annual gathering please!

Thanks Berlin! Wonderful couple of days at Tech Open Air and around. Top5 souvenir revelations: 1. “AI” on a talk’s title means the future is somehow vaguely touched upon 2. Every big and small tech company has invented THE way to use LLMs (and they all sound oddly similar) 3. Meeting other founders is always the beef for me in these kinds of settings. Do more of it. Honest to-the-point sharing between people who dare to build (no wise-assing by those who stand in the audience and know better :) 4. Finns really are insecure overachievers. What we do at Upright with LLMs really trumps a lot of the stuff that is celebrated today as “cutting edge applications”. We should get better at talking about what we do and how. 5. Yes, you really still need cash to get food in at least one international metropole! Bye for now! 👋🏻 (No AIs were hurt in writing this post, except for maybe some of their feelings 😢)

VOICES OF TECH UNITED 🚀 🤖 Last week at #TOA, #DeepTech took centre stage. TOA brought together national and international Voices of Tech in #Berlin to shine a light on important topics like AI, Climate Tech, Web 3, Health Tech and many more. For 4 days Berlin transformed into a melting pot of tech founders, investors, creatives & industry leaders who will shape our days well after tomorrow. Days of inspiration, collaboration and networking lie behind us. 💪 Together with #TOA and Cue Podcasts, we asked speakers such as Christina Janzer (SVP of Research & Analytics Slack, Niko Woischnik (Founder of TOA) or Dr. Wolfgang Gründinger (Chief Evangelist Enpal) and many more to share their voices and thoughts about innovation, tech, trends, Berlin and the startup ecosystem. Thank you to everyone involved! The outcome will be launched soon! Let's keep pushing DeepTech forward! #StartupBerlin #CityOfDeepTech #TOA

Finally Tech Open Air Edition 10 (2024) is a wrap! 🥳 Thanks to the organisers Niko Woischnik and Pamela Pompas Oreiro for having me and organising/producing this event. Also a special thanks to all the speakers for being so gracious as I something annoyingly applied pressure to get them to finish their talks so we could stay within the bounds of the schedule and sometimes y'all even had to survive made mistakes that I made in the introductions. 🤦🏿♂️ Katia Yakovleva, thanks for being so understanding about the screw-up. DM coming about that reconciliation coffee. 🏳️ Now back to my day job of doing #TechDDs for #VC, #PE and #founders and automating how we do this work at Philipps & Byrne. Must say... I have a newfound respect for MCs everywhere. 🎤 This was pretty hard like a good workout where you feel the burn for days thereafter! 😅 So much learned. Definitely will do this again if folks will let me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
