ESG in the Boating Industry: Making our Business Even More Sustainable 🌎 At the 3rd World Yachting Sustainability Forum in Genoa, an urgent topic was immanent in all discussions: Environmental, Social, and Governance, a framework used to assess a company's impact on the environment, social responsibility and economic sustainability. It helps investors, regulators, and stakeholders to evaluate a company's long-term sustainability and ethical practices beyond traditional financial metrics. ESG is a particularly important topic now, considering the rather barren economic landscape. To me, it's clear that we must tackle many challenges to stay afloat. Standing still is not an option. More comprehensive data, enhanced collaboration, and market consolidation. As ESG compliance becomes a critical factor for all players in the sector, these principles will define our path forward. 🔑 Key points: • Supply Chain Pressures: Validating that every single part of the supply chain meets ESG criteria is a growing challenge. • Unified Data Approach: Industry needs to establish agreed data sets to better manage sustainability goals. • ESG and Investment: A clear ESG strategy is vital for attracting future investments and must come from within the industry. • Potential for Market Consolidation: Larger companies may need to support smaller suppliers in achieving ESG compliance. • Product Innovation: Customer data on boat usage is already shaping more sustainable boat designs. 🌱 ESG represents a long-term opportunity for innovation and sustainability, but the industry must act now to ensure a unified, data-driven approach. The topics of ESG are important for us at Torqeedo.
