The Forgotten Selfies from My Phone Day 13: Welcome to the New Generation of Digital Communication Experts! For nearly ten years, I’ve been teaching Online Communication at Cologne University of Applied Sciences for the Social Media Manager certification – a qualification that is highly regarded in the industry and has opened doors for many students at major companies. You might think that after a decade, I’d feel a bit bored. But no, it’s quite the opposite. In every single semester, I meet new, unique talents from whom I learn not just personally, but professionally as well. That’s why I do this. That’s why I take on this work: because it allows me to grow. I stay current, learn new things, and connect with people who remain in my network. I’m still in touch with students from my very first class in 2015. In the selfie, you see the newly certified Social Media Managers of 2024! Just two weeks ago, they completed their final exams with flying colors. They developed impressive ideas that, and this is the real beauty of this course, are largely implemented in practice. What could be better than seeing a real project emerge from the theory taught in the classroom? Thank you, Heike, Corinna, Luca, Sophie, Kathrin, Celina, Li Liu, Lea, Dominic, Lena, Johanna, Sarah – you’ve once again shown me what’s possible!
