Heute im #WetterVorAcht in der ARD zu aktuellen Auswirkungen des #Klimawandels: In der ersten Aprilhälfte wurden in 164 (!) Ländern neue Temperaturrekorde aufgestellt. In nur 15 Tagen! Das gab es noch nie. Darunter in Europa 35 Grad in Bulgarien mitten im April. In Myanmar 45 Grad. Oder Mexiko-Stadt: Mit 34,2 Grad gab es die höchste je gemessene Temperatur seit 1880. Weitere Folgen der Erwärmung sind Starkregenereignisse wie derzeit von Dubai bis Pakistan.

🌏 towards a new culture of truthfulness 💆♀️ in the climate crisis. We will remember 2023 as the year humanity exposed its inability to tackle the #climatecrisis. Much of climate politics has degenerated into a farce. Let’s just remind ourselves of #COP28. More and more people, especially those working in sustainability, are struggling to deal with the rampant absurdity. This calls for a new way of dealing with #climatechange. Both politically and individually. One that allows us to remain sane and truthful. We need a healthy and productive way of relating to the world and our endeavors. While at the same time being truthful about affairs. What makes this particularly difficult is that so much is based on optimism. But recent years clearly show: Optimism is no longer an intellectually truthful option. It’s often illusory. But pessimism isn’t an option either. Because it's unproductive, both psychologically and politically❗ ➡ Instead, we need a culture that allows for acknowledging that we will, in all likelihood, go well beyond two degrees and make large parts of the planet uninhabitable. But that at the same time allows us to keep our dignity. ➡ A culture that allows us to come to terms with the fact that large parts of climate politics, corporate sustainability, and the public debate are and will be bullshit. Driven by untruthful optimism and fake positivity. ➡ Only from such a culture can politics and entrepreneurial practices emerge that may actually lead to better futures. Only such a culture can funnel energies toward working on adequate solutions❗ Of course, I don't have a straight answer to this.
