I emerged 2nd runner-up pitch winner in the Handzon Africa STEAM Bootcamp pitch contest. 🎉 This STEAM Bootcamp was focused on Building #Sustainable Cities. This initiative was organized by Handz-On Africa in collaboration with Melton Global Foundation and Unlokinno. I pitched my sustainable solution that emphasizes Eco-friendly practices of planting bamboo on mercury-contaminated lands and also making sieves specifically designed from these bamboo which are capable of capturing valuable resources such as gold and iron. Another innovative angle was the use of bamboo to make sieves as an alternative to filtering sand particles instead of water use to filter unwanted particles eliminating the need for mercury. This is the beginning of my #startup journey. #Learn in Chaos, #Innovate in silence. What an amazing 3 days it's been!!! Yesterday the atmosphere was electric as we chose our top 3 winners after a heated pitching competition. Congratulations to our first place winner @Daniel Apam for emerging first place in the idea submission and pitch competition. His motivation behind this approach stems from his personal experience with people from undeserved communities in Eastern region, who constantly complain of the poor fertility of their soil due to the activities of illegal mining. The fight continues as we and our supporting partners assist him to effectively implement his solution after the win.
