Weingut Schwedhelm owns the filet piece of grand cru Schwarzer Herrgott in the northern Pfalz. The English Monk Philipp and his brothers produced wine here as early as the year 700. The south-facing plateau with porous limestone gives Riesling a dark and smoky flavor with grip. “You almost feel like you have to chew it,” says Stephan Schwedhelm.

Ried Jägerberg lies directly in front of the new winery of Weingut Hannes Sabathi in Gamlitz and produces one of Austria's most impressive Chardonnays from sandstone and pockets of calcareous soil. Situated on the eastern edge of Kranachberg, Jägerberg is south-facing, up to 60% steep, and has a 100-meter difference in elevation within the Ried.

As winemaker Claus Burmeister likes to say, this is Blaufränkisch from a Pinot Producer. Grown on gypsum-marl soil, Blaufränkisch at Weingut Burg Ravensburg is perfumed with fine tannins. One of the oldest places in Germany to have Blaufränkisch (Lemberger), planted here since the 18th century.
