Under this motto, we took part in the REWAG company run in Regensburg with more than 10 runners. Placement: good – individually and as team, but actually a minor matter. The main thing was that we all had fun and spent time together - and we did, just like the many other participants. 💯 Start and finish was the #Jahnstadion in Regensburg. And there's no doubt about it: we had at least as much fun at the after-run party as we did during the run itself. That makes us look forward to taking part next year.

🌟 VORN Summer Festival & Office Opening 🌟 Last week, we celebrated an unforgettable day at VORN with our Summer Festival and the grand opening party of our new office spaces! The day began with a joint lunch at our new Regensburg office, where we had the chance to explore the space and connect with the whole team, as colleagues from across Europe came together to make this event truly special. One of the day’s highlights was the thrilling VORN foosball championship, where everyone competed in fast 1:1 matches with great enthusiasm. Congrats to Deri & Leo, our champions, who took home a well-deserved VORN jersey! Later, we ended up in the Regensburg prairie, where we enjoyed a fantastic BBQ and tried our hand at various Wild West activities, including knife throwing, archery and horseshoe pitching. The evening was capped off in true Western style with music, drinks and a cozy campfire atmosphere.  A huge thank you to everyone who made this event so memorable. Meeting rooms: Hydro & Acido Just as hydrolysis and acidogenesis are essential stages in biogas fermentation, our meeting rooms serve as spaces where ideas blend, tasks are outlined and concrete plans are formed.   Director offices: Aceto & Metano Reflecting the final phases of biogas production, our executive offices are named after them. Here, our strategies are refined and put into action.   Team offices: Carbo, Nitro & Ferro Teams are the backbone of VORN, just like to the vital elements carbon, nitrogen and iron in biogas fermentation. Here’s a breakdown of the most common grades: 🫒 Extra Virgin: The crème de la crème and highest quality olive oil, extracted from the first cold pressing of olives, without chemical treatments. Perfect for salads or bread dipping, preserving natural flavors and nutrients. 🫒 Virgin: Slightly lower in quality, but still unrefined and retaining much of its natural aroma. Ideal for cooking at low to medium temperatures, adding a delicate touch to dishes. 🫒 Refined: The process of refining removes impurities and flaws, offering a neutral flavour and a higher smoke point, great for high-heat cooking like frying. When olives are pressed to extract olive oil, the leftover olive pomace still holds valuable resources! ♻️ Instead of being wasted, these olive remnants can be repurposed in various ways, contributing to more sustainability in olive oil production. 🌱 One common practice is composting. By composting olive pomace, it can be turned into nutrient-rich fertiliser for gardens and agriculture, closing the loop on organic waste. 🌾 Additionally, olive pomace can be utilised as animal feed, providing a nutritious supplement for livestock. 🔋 By partnering with the olive industry, our innovative approach involves using olive pomace for biomethane production. This not only reduces waste but also converts it into green energy, boosting the local circular economy. Ambitious goals need strong partnerships: milestone achieved! 🤝 We’re excited to enter a groundbreaking partnership with Oleicola El Tejar (OET), a leading company in Spain’s olive industry, and GREENAR, a Spanish engineering company specialised in renewable energy, to develop, construct and operate new biomethane plants. Together, we are committed to realising at least 8 projects, with OET ensuring a secure supply of feedstock with 1.2 million tons of olive pomace annually for the next 20+ years. Greenar is committed to taking the project to construction and VORN will oversee development, construction and operations, ensuring the highest standards of excellence. This partnership addresses a significant environmental challenge for the entire Andalusian region by reducing air emissions and turning the olive industry from a major fossil gas consumer to a major green gas producer. By applying advanced technologies in the treatment of olive pomace, we are enabling an efficient and environmentally friendly use of the product, returning the nutrients to the olive producers. At VORN Bioenergy, long-lasting and trusting partnerships are right at our core. Our mission to unlock the potential of biomethane across Europe drives us to engage in partnerships that leverage local resources and expertise, creating win-win solutions for all involved.
