🌟 Iconic Design for Stars in Vibrant 50s Berlin 🎊 In the mid-1950s, Walter Knoll was once again at the forefront of design innovation. The 369 Armchair, designed by Rolf Grunow, embodied the cutting-edge possibilities of the era’s new technologies. The 369 was selected for one of the nation’s new hot spots, the first Hilton Hotel in Germany, which opened in 1958 in Berlin as part of Hilton International founded by the American hotelier Conrad Hilton. 🏨💫 Designed by American modernist architects William Pereira and Charles Luckman, the 13-story building, with its checkerboard façade, was considered Europe’s most modern hotel. The curtain has closed on ORGATEC Cologne What an incredible experience it has been! Together with our amazing partners— OBJECT CARPET GmbH, SATTLER Lighting, and Zimmer + Rohde—we’ve achieved exactly what we set out to do. We invited our clients to step into a world where natural materials, vibrant colors, and fine craftsmanship come together. We are excited to give you a recap of our key highlights from the fair: Photo 1 & 2: Aion Table: A wooden table distilled to its most essential components. Its design feels instantly familiar, with a pure form and structure that evoke originality and authenticity. A gently curving tabletop rests on a strong foundation, showcasing a soft profile. Photo 3: Temno Table: A stunning fusion of architecture and sculpture, the Temno Table draws inspiration from classical and modern design. Crafted from sensual, natural materials, it makes a bold statement in any space, putting the table center stage. Osuu Chair: This lightweight wooden chair features a unique combination of bentwood and plywood, creating an all-wooden design that is both beautiful and intricate. Photo 4 & 5: Leadchair Evo: Merging essential elements for maximum seating comfort, the Leadchair Evo offers a cozy sink-in feel, comfortable suspension, and effective ventilation—perfect for any environment. Photo 6: Yunity Chair: With simple row connections, seat numbering systems, and stackability, the Yunity Chair provides order and flexibility. Its exceptional comfort fosters creative encounters and inspires meaningful dialogue. A Synergy of Competence The first day of the fair has been special, as we proudly unveiled our collaborative stand—a true meeting point of expertise with OBJECT CARPET GmbH, SATTLER Lighting, and Zimmer + Rohde. Each design element flows naturally into the next, creating a harmonious blend of texture, light, color, and form. Visitors to our stand were able to experience a space where craftsmanship and creativity come together, with sustainable carpets, atmospheric lighting, luxurious textiles, and elegantly designed furniture. Reviving a Modernist Legacy in the Heart of River Oaks 🕰️🌿 The Tiel Way House, a modernist gem located in the lush River Oaks area of Houston, stands as a heritage piece, originally designed by renowned Texan mid-century architects Karl Kamrath and Frederick James MacKie. The challenge of preserving its legacy while infusing contemporary design fell to Christopher Robertson and Vivi Nguyen Robertson from Robertson Design, who embraced the task with a vision: “We aim to create spaces that evoke emotion.” 💛 Expansive glass walls frame picturesque views of a lush ravine and minimalist garden, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor spaces. The rich dark wood and warm copper tones complement the abundant glass, shaping the refined character of the home.
