First development together with GE Aerospace 🥳 We are more than proud to announce the joint development of a new AI-enabled borescope inspection solution for commercial jet engines with our partner GE Aerospace. As part of our joint technology development agreement, we focused on enhancing vision-based assisted defect recognition (ADR) systems using AI for commercial aviation engine borescope inspections. The new feature increases the true positive rate by an impressive 33.6% and reduces the false positive rate by 13.5%. The solution will be made available to our customers through an upcoming software update for our Mentor Visual iQ+ video borescope which will be introduced to GE Aerospace’s MRO network later this year. ✈️ Read more: https://lnkd.in/e_pzpJ-w #NDT #inspectionstartshere #MRO

Trained on data derived from compressor hardware that provides even better detection and categorisation of defects during the in-situ inspection helps our Inspector’s ensure the inspection doesn’t miss out those small dents and nicks that could be located in critical zones. In NDT, image quality is often described by the smallest visually detectable hole in a CT slice, known as Detail Detection Sensitivity (DDS). This can be measured using a disk image quality indicator (IQI). For a more profound understanding, image quality can also be evaluated using advanced metrics such as Modulation Transfer Function (MTF), Contrast Discrimination Function (CDF), and Contrast Detail Diagram (CDD). These methods also provide a Detail Detection Sensitivity (DDS) value, although they don't account for specific CT artifacts. Curious to learn more about DDC and these advanced techniques?
