This summer, the We Are Social US team delivered some killer work. One of my favorites came from our Sport Team. After 5 months of planning, I found myself on set in Atlanta, just an hour away from directing Ant Edwards. Then, boom. Concept pulled–out of our hands. Classic. Instead of calling it a day, I hit up our sports creatives with a challenge: “We’ve got the set. We’ve got Ant for 20 minutes. Any ideas?” 5 minutes later, Julien Llerena drops a gem. 15 minutes after that, I’m showing Ant a clip of Kobe learning Spanish to trash-talk the Spanish national team at the 2008 Olympics. He loved it. You know what they say–everyone’s got a plan until they get punched in the face.
