The Women of Color TechConnect x CodePub event was a resounding success, and it’s all because of YOU. The incredible turnout, the overwhelming support from the community, the powerful energy in the room — it was beyond beautiful. We had the honor of meeting brilliant minds, amazing women, and visionary allies who showed up with passion, curiosity, and creativity. This event was a testament to what happens when we come together to inspire, empower, and elevate each other. Ah, the annual corporate ritual of performative feminism, where brands suddenly remember women exist and flood social media with pink logos, hollow (CRINGE) empowerment slogans, and ads featuring smiling, diverse women.... All while paying them less, sidelining them in leadership, and keeping their workplace cultures as toxic as ever the other 364 days of the year. But hey, nothing says true equality like slapping the word STRENGTH (on a picture, with hands and elbows raised high 🤣). Meanwhile, these same companies quietly continue to devalue their own employees, ignore inclusivity efforts, and promote the same toxic setups they’ve always had—just with a fresh coat of pink-washed PR nonsense. Some companies have really nothing to offer except BS marketing. Feminine empowerment means respecting and supporting the energy that creates, nurtures, and protects. It thrives in strong boundaries, genuine self-care, and the ability to cultivate values that build meaningful lives and communities. None of that fits neatly into a corporate campaign, but that’s where real change happens—far from the hashtags and marketing gimmicks. That’s why I have to give massive credit to Netlight and Women of Color Tech Connect for pulling off a fantastic event together. I was literally AMAZED by the energy, the shared understanding, and the depth of knowledge from everyone I met there. In a sea of typical PR nonsense, you are truly MAKING A POSITIVE DIFFERENCE by leading with action instead of empty words. Well done Netlight, the place we always needed 🦄
