Your responsibilities
Duties primarily include teaching and research. Research associates may also pursue independent research and further academic qualifications.
In the period from 1 November 2024 to 31 December 2025, the number of LVS is 0. In the period from 1 January 2026 to 31 October 2027, the number of LVS is 4.
The tasks fall into the areas of functional morphology, biomechanics, wood sciences and bionics of woody plants. Specifically, reaction wood is to be examined for its biomimetic potential, with a particular focus on the G-fibers, the plant muscles. The project results are to be abstracted in interdisciplinary cooperation and transferred into concepts for technical implementation. The functional principle of reaction wood is to be analyzed using microscopic (SEM, light microscopy, computer tomography, etc.) and biomechanical methods for different groups of organisms and organs. The tasks also include participation in the teaching of the department to the extent of 4 LVS in the final phase of the project (2026-2027). A high degree of responsibility, independence and organizational talent as well as basic teaching experience and sociability are required.
Your profile
A university degree in a relevant field plus doctorate.
Experience in working with plants, knowledge in functional morphology, biomechanics, wood science and biomimetics, imaging and image processing, especially light microscopy, (E)SEM, TEM and computed tomography is desirable. Very good oral and written language skills in German and English are required, knowledge of Portuguese is helpful.
