Our BASF Quantum Computing Team together with Kipu Quantum achieved success in tackling two relevant use cases related to combinatorial optimization: the traveling salesperson problem and the robot scheduling problem! Kipu’s novel digital quantum algorithm using digital compression enabled our BASF researchers to calculate exact solutions for scaled-down versions of the optimization scenarios, even on noisy hardware, where existing algorithms (like Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm, QAOA) often provide lower quality solutions and sometimes fail even at the simulation level. The proof-of-principle implementations on different digital quantum computers showcase the power of innovative algorithms like Digitized-Counterdiabatic Quantum Optimization (DCQO), which provides high-quality solutions to critical optimization problems. "We are thrilled to have worked with such talented and inquisitive scientists from BASF and are delighted to present them successful results of our novel technique," said Dr. Archismita Dalal, PhD from Kipu Quantum. Dr. Abhishek Awasthi, project lead at BASF: “At the current state of quantum computing, it is essential to develop novel, less resource intensive algorithms and methods for combinatorial optimization. With KIPU Quantum we were able to understand and apply the DCQO algorithm on real hardware, and given the noisy quality of present hardware, obtained extremely good results compared to the standard circuit-model algorithms”. #quantumcomputing #logistics

🎉 At #DigitalHubKL, there is never a dull moment! Recently, we organized a Mario Kart gaming competition 🎮 at the office, bringing back nostalgic memories of playing Super Mario during our childhood. On the 18th of July, colleagues gathered for a friendly battle, showcasing their racing skills and competing for the title.   The event received much attention, with participants registering to join in on the fun. Laughter filled the office as everyone engaged in thrilling races. Digital Hub China is proud to welcome six new trainees!🎉👏 During their first week of onboarding, the trainees were introduced to their respective leaders and teams and given a tour of the office area by Frank Wu. Frank also took the time to explain the organization's structure and shared key elements of BASF's company culture. Over the 18-month program, these trainees will have the unique opportunity to rotate through three distinct roles within different teams, tailored to their individual interests and aspirations.
