#TeamBayer is helping to lead the global conversation on #DigitalFarming and #RegenerativeAgriculture.
Vice President of International Affairs & Sustainability Strategy, Bayer | Partner in the Future of AgriBusiness | Transformative DEI Leader
🌍✨ Today, I had the honor of moderating the B20 Summit Side Event: “Digital Farming – Enhancing Sustainability and Regenerative Agriculture,” hosted in Brazil by OECD - OCDE Business at OECD (BIAC), and CNI, as a B20 legacy campaign. 💫The event highlighted the need for innovative solutions that can enhance productivity while minimizing environmental impact, especially for smallholder farmers by evolving to regenerative agriculture and digital farming. As we face a challenging future in agriculture due to climate change, urbanization, and soil degradation, it’s crucial to rethink how we grow our food. 🌱Digital farming combines traditional knowledge with cutting-edge technology, enabling farmers to make informed decisions and adopt regenerative agriculture practices. The OECD's role in promoting these practices through digital transformation is vital for the future of agriculture. 🙏 A special thank you to BIAC (Hanni Rosenbaum and Rokas Morkūnas for leading this initiative) and to our esteemed speakers such as Aline Vick, brazilian Farmer and Manager at Fazenda Estância Farm, whose insights and experiences are invaluable to understand all the opportunities that digital farming brings to increase productivity while protecting the environment. 🧑🌾Aline is committed with Regenerative Agriculture and digital farming, and she set the stage for the discussion on how digital farming boost regenerative agriculture. We also had the pleasure to listen to Marion Jansen, Director of the Trade and Agriculture Directorate at OECD; Jeremy Groeteke, Chairman of the Digital Agriculture Association and Renato Guimarães, President of FMC Latin America. 🔎This event was part of “Fields of the future”, the OECD Digital Farming Campaign, and a great forum to discuss the future of agriculture. Walking the talk on #RegenerativeAgriculture at #COP16 in #Colombia! We were proud to invite a group of global organizations including WBCSD – World Business Council for Sustainable Development, United States Council for International Business (USCIB) , CIAT, IICA, CANOPi project, Nutrien & UBEES with local farmers and our own #TeamBayer to a farm experience in one of our global innovation hubs in Colombia. The experience was part of a side event around the UN Biodiversity Conference, known as COP16. The agenda focused on regenerative agriculture, the key role of #farmers, and solutions for their challenges in tropical conditions. Fruit farmers & sugar cane producers spoke about market requirements, sustainable practices, and biodiversity goals -- and how companies like Bayer can help their farms achieve them. Our field operations team on the ground showcased direct practices such as precision application techniques, soil health measures, crop protection innovations, cover crops and more. This is just one example of how regenerative agriculture is becoming reality for #FoodSystems to benefit exporters and growers around the globe.

#TeamBayer can't wait to see what we can achieve with The Good Rice Alliance when it comes to #carbon, #WaterConservation and more! #TGRA
Building on a strong foundation: The Good Rice Alliance takes shape Building on the momentum of the partnership that was announced in August 2023, Bayer, GenZero, Shell and Mitsubishi Corporation are pleased to announce the establishment of The Good Rice Alliance (TGRA). Formerly known as the Bayer Rice Carbon Program (BRCP), TGRA reflects our expanded ambition to drive positive environmental and social impact in rice cultivation, alongside our focus on reducing methane emissions in rice production and supporting rice farmers. The first year of partnership saw the launch of a pilot project with around 25,000 hectares of rice fields enrolled. Key highlights from the first year included: · More than 100,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCo2e) of emission reductions · Around 900 million kiloliters of water saved · Assisting approximately 10,000 enrolled farmers in reducing the cost of cultivation by around 245 million Indian rupees total · Completing 93 stakeholder consultations and more than 250,000 farm visits to support farmers and implement measurement, reporting, and verification practices on the ground Looking forward with TGRA: TGRA has now initiated a multi-year study quantifying greenhouse gas emissions, water usage, and soil health impacts across various rice cultivation practices. This assessment, which underpins the program's environmental benefits, will help to validate our approach and inform future actions on a larger scale within the carbon farming space. TGRA aims to create a positive impact on smallholder livelihoods, food security, water conservation, and responsible consumption and production. This holistic approach is supported by Bayer's core competencies in working with Indian small-holding farmers and agricultural expertise, especially in rice cultivation. As we embark on this new chapter with TGRA, we are excited about the collective impact we can achieve with our partners. Stay tuned for further updates on Bayer Rice Carbon Program / The Good Rice Alliance To know more about The Good Rice Alliance - https://lnkd.in/ght2bJch #TGRA #Collaboration #Sustainability #CarbonFarming
